NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton says the sanctioning body has been working on the fuel injection process for well over a year. He says NASCAR wants to pick the right partner for the process and stresses ?it?s better to get it right, than it is to get it going early.?

?This is part of every initiative that we?ve taken over the past few years,? Pemberton said. ?We?re trying to make this a greener sport ? which is tough to do.

Unfortunately, NASCAR engine builders have been testing pretty much ALL of them on the scope. There's a reason you won't be seeing the "Popular Domestic" standalones in NASCAR, ever. Precision is an issue, even with the pushrod crowd.

Think of the money they will save on restrictor plates when they can just electronically limit them amount the throttle blades open! :D

No more "fuel bowls" to spill whenever someone puts on the brakes, and no more distributors (open spark) to light the slosh on fire. Maybe NASCAR wants to bring it's safety program into the 1990s.

I'll certainly watch once they're EFI!! :D

ya,, maybe..
but I think daytona still sells more tickets in 2 weeks in feb. than nhra pro trail does for the year..
but we don't have to worry about him or u ever going to a live race..
and thats kool..
I like the bracket races as it's in my budget.. most don't
salt type racing sounds kool and maybe I'll make it to one next year..
but I've been into nascar since I was 5. and I like it..
not everyone does or will..
you may have at one time been to a race.. D/g highly doubt it..and untill he does. and see's the way the team takes an ill handle'n car and makes it a top 10 or better by the white flag.. he's really can't say much. I'd think someone so into tech. would love to see the techincal side of these cars. even without a efi..
as efi will not make these cars..
the team and the will to win does..

It is odd to me that any car company would want to get into NASCAR at this time. It has become so controversial, the TV audiances are dwidleing and attendance is doing the same. Why waste your time? Of course it is the only race series that gets any time on the tube anymore.
