I have heard about that race from some old timers I know out in NY. A lot of old hardcore street racers were also drug dealers IIRC. I believe Brooklyn Heavy went to jail on a pile of charges related to drugs and the cops made a big deal about towing his street racers and race cars to the impound lot.
that mentality lingered into the 80s local.
pos life, and there is the freakin super car outside the leaning mobile home..
in fact one was quite blatantly known...
I saw what must have been his car, beaten to crap, even 14 years later. I had learned some of what it took to keep this particular chassis going...as funds to go extreme existed.
as bad as the rush gets for the junkies.. sometimes factual things linger.
The truest clean story I stick to today is my dads rusty beetle playing with brand new chevelles (in 1969).

the death rate and fairy tales cannot kill the nature left behind.
Don't know about the $$$... I can tell you that Fountain Ave was the place for stuff like that... As well as Flatlands Ave when the cops flooded Fountain... Runs from one under pass to the next by JFK (of the Conduit) were also a great Sunday afternoon pass time... Drugs were always around... But not as much as people think.. Guns on the other hand...
Hanging out at the TSS parking lot on Linden... Mcdonald's drive through on Linden... I'm pretty sure I have video from the late 80's early 90's of Fountain on a Sunday afternoon... I need to find it...
