Easiest way to build it is to just pore a slab, go to your local lumber yard and frame it up.......Hell I could probably have it framed and sheeted in a couple of days.........

I know you're not planning on ever selling; but you shouldn't do things that you'll have to work to undo...Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

Dusting this thread off. I was looking at metal shops online again. Saw a reasonably priced one that is 35ft x 70ft and thought, I should measure out the backyard again accordingly. One thing I was wondering is if 21ft is enough to turn in and out of garage?
So I measured out approximately where the front of the shop would be if I were to set it 4ft off the property lines. The upper lath is at 74 feet from the back of the lot. The one I was looking at had two bay doors on first 35 feet, and that would be at the bottom of the ramp. Looks like my ramp road is around 21ft wide (whole lot is 60ft wide).

Quite a bit away from the upper yard, so I have a little wiggle room from the back of the lot.

And 39 feet from the north side there.

This picture it's kinda hard to tell what's going on, but I'm standing at the back property line, and I've started removing the trees that got buried by dirt during the original grubbing of the hill side. I would get a retaining wall built along here and fill removed from the upper terrace or brought in to level it to the lower terrace elevation.

If money wasn't a big deal you could build a 2 story building on the lower level and a single level on the upper level with a common roof. You could use the second story as your clean/assemble room and then either walk over to the upper level garage or down some stairs to the lower level of the two story. Course its not my money I'm spending here.Comment

Have seen friends of my son's dad build a shop pretty much like your lot...
He is a car nut cabinet maker, the house level part of his shop is heated and for wood only. I am not sure there is a stairway inside but do know one is outside and he works on his and his son's cars downstairs. As well as welding stuff ( sawdust and welding go poof ya know..). His wife does not have to smell fumes except when he varnishes woodComment

Looks like I'm back on to cheating and buying a place.
Negotiations are done, I accepted the counter offer and the loan application is in. A place just got listed on the 14th, and I've decided it has to be mine. Paying a kings ransom for it, but once the loan process is done I'll be happy with it.
5 acre lot. Finished home that doesn't need work. ~2400sqft, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath. 2 car attached garage. Two wood stoves plus electric heat. Good fenced in lawn with sprinkers on timers. And a 60ft x 66ft barn, that is mostly a packed dirt floor but has a roughly 3 car garage width pad of concrete that is enclosed and is insulated and has a wood stove, work bench and 220v power (and dismantled '65 T-bird that I'm sure the owner is taking with him).
The home is built of concrete blocks.

You can see the barn in the background. There is a well house/shed between the barn and house. There are also other farm things like a cinder block built structure for animals attached to a corral.

From the ad.

The attached garage is mid-level and from the garage you can go either to the upper floor or the lower. The door in the background goes to the garage.

You know what this means right? The moment I sign the final doc's on this place NASA is going to call for an interview
Damn the luck
