the metal flat bed is fugly but a nice wood bed with some nice wood stakes it would not be awful..

heh....that's funny Joe, have you seen pics of my 59 chevy truck from 1985-1990?

But I've had enough of flat beds, I'll do something else with it.

          yay - no flatbed
I'm all for flatbeds on work trucks.... but I've never thought they were a 'styleish' thing.

I pulled the pan off and flipped the engine over. Neat stuff....the block is a 4 bolt main! and the three rod bearings I took out look ok, the crank is still pretty nice (can't feel any wear, mic at 2.1794 iirc)

I guess I'll buy some 20 under bearings and change them one pair at a time, and see if the rest are ok. It's kind of a pain to take off more than 4 caps at once.

            Bearings are dated 1990

There is something really familiar about those pics. I just can't place it.

yeah, and I should check the cam itself, too.

The cam looks iffy, one of the lobes has pretty noticeable wear. I guess I'll see about putting in a new cam.

I pulled the TH400 apart today. Smoked direct and forward clutches, the plates were kind of welded together, which is probably why I was able to drive it at all. Also had a wasted thrust torrington bearing in the geartrain, and some chunks are missing from a couple planet gear teeth. I guess I swap in another rear section from my parts collection. The case looks ok so far.

Since we gave the 87 Suburban to my son, I need a truck to drive, so I got my 59 extended cab re-registered and insured.

now I'm toying with the idea of putting this extended cab (that I built in 1994) on the 57 one ton chassis. Hmmmm......

no, singly. I don't have any dual wheel stuff except for the old dodge parts on my Travco, and I think I can get by with singles for the stuff I wanna do with the truck.

your collection disgusts me, damned desert dwellers anyway.

Let's see guys - I'll just pull ANOTHER rust free 50 year old vehicle out of the back fourty and put it back on the road.
