Re: squirrel's 57 Chevy one ton
Finally back to work a bit today on the camper. Been a long week. The original tank held 20 gallons, the one in it now measures out to about 28. Should be plenty, if I'm careful.
In addition to taking the rear cabinet out, I removed the bathroom wall that has the door in it. I also took out the funky shelf thing that someone had put in where the heater used to be. They used a 2x6 to build it, I guess they figured 1x2s just aren't strong enough for a camper. I'm taking off the rest of the old flooring, using a heat gun to soften up the glue. I bought some new vinyl flooring, it's vaguely similar to the original material, but not quite as 60s looking. I'll probably just attach it around the perimeter, instead of fully gluing it down. That way when someone wants to fix it right in the future, they won't have to deal with so much glue, and it should hold up to the limited use it will get from me. I also spent two bucks on a pair of reflectors for the lower sides of the camper, to replace the originals, one of which was broken. Amazing...the new ones are from walmart, and fit perfectly, even have a similar part number on them. The originals have a 67 date code, too.
