On the thought of a "private" hotel list, although it may have some merit, I would vote against it if there was a poll. I know that the hotels are a very big(but not only) part of getting to know people on the tour. When we were starting to do the tour, we didn't know anyone else other than reading posts online(which doesn't exactly count as meeting someone). We decided to stay at some of the hotels with some other freaks and it was the best decision we could have made. As we got to meet more people, the dynamics of the tour has changed(for the better I might add). This would have been much more difficult had those earlier forum members kept their plans private. It's a nice suprise when someone new comes up and says hi, only knowing you from posts and pictures. We got to meet several new (to us) BS's this way and we are richer for it. Of course if you didn't want everyone to know where you are staying, you certainly don't have to post the info.

but everyone has their own agenda on staying where ever for what ever reason

I'm in for the HIs again next year as we should have 2 or 3 free nights coming. Detroit is a different story, however, as we will be staying with a friend at her house.

She did that for about a dozen of us (from the original P/T message board) in 2001 and hosted a "hog roast" for about 50 folks. That was the kickoff weekend for my first Long Haul. I'm not sure she'd do it for a multitude again. I have dibs on the downstairs suite!

Still trying to plan things. Been working things with Mel and were are on the right path.
Anyways, Powertour, she is for sure not going next year. I want to look at starting to book stuff, and want to try to get in with the freaks, but I am having a hard time justifying HI prices...probably will try booking a chunk through Microtel Inn or something, but do want to try to be with the group more this time.

Trick this time, I am saving way the hell ahead of time...once I get a few things paid off from this round, I am setting aside bit by bit.

Looking forward to next year.
