some of the Cocoa Beach hotel rates went way up after the PT announcement.....family events still seems to have some decent rates.....might be cheaper to book a few miles away.......rexx

Looks like the best deals are going through the booking agency, called Shorline inn at Muskegon, $169 and $189 direct, $89 through family events.

WOW George, they have really upped their prices >. When we checked earlier, direct booking was almost the same as family events price without the service fee. Glad we booked already and didn't wait any longer

We booked all our rooms through Family Events, the rates were good and reviews good also. Figure it's OK since you don't have to prepay and can cancel the rooms if needed. :D

Guys......and gals, if you have not used the booking agency, there is a $6 up front charge for each reservation. That money is subtracted from the total price paid upon arrival. It's really not a bad deal. I have mixed some direct and some through the agency. My experience has been great customer service and also flexible with changes or cancellations. Food for thought :D

Ok I have the hotels booked. I went cheap because I'm broke. The only one I'm a little funny about is the Warren Mi motel 6, I'm thinking about booking the holiday inn express since I know there will be alot of people and might be safer since it will be 2 days there. So here's my cheap list with tax

Motel 6 2003 hill ave Valdosta ga 44.78

I think I stayed at that Motel 6 in 2009 - it was better than most - tad hard to find though.
You need a room for Friday - then Saturday Long Hauler pictures will probably be done by 10:00-10:30 and everyone heads out for home. You won't need 2 rooms in Detroit at the end - you need 2 rooms at the beginning Friday and Saturday for Cocoa Beach if you start at the beginning.

Agree Phil.... I have all the rooms booked including Detroit where most of ya'll are staying, but I just couldn't believe how much the rates went up down in Cocoa Beach. And like you said, that's the city where you're gonna have to stay two nights, not just one. I'm assuming that most everyone booked the room before the rates sky rocketed.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure what happens on the last Saturday. That means I can cancel one night in Warren. As far as cocoa I lve 1 1/2 hours north west of cocoa so I'll drive down Saturday mourning and go home Saturday night and leave from the house Sunday.

Well, on Cocoa Beach, I booked the Hilton, it was $109/night, sucks as it is 3 nights because we plan on getting in Thursday night. $362 just for the 3 nights. Ouch, my ass hurts after that one.
But, I am treating this as a vacation before the vacation ??? for Mel and myself. I have not set foot in Florida since I was 2-3 years old and climbing palm trees and freaking my mom out.

We are planning on bunking down however with a fellow Torino guy and his wife, probably 2 nights, so that will wipe off at least $100-$250 in hotels for us.
That $179 in Nashville, that there feels like a to me for the room. :
