given the undeserved flaming he got recently, the LS6. I apply the Machiavelli rule - when you're king, never have friends because you never know which one is going to try to kill you.... make em all enemies ;D

I'd sell it and buy a more appropriate vehicle. Although you got to admit the cool factor would be way off the chart.

        Otherwise...#1.

If you go with the LS6, be careful with your oiling, an accusump is a must.

Gotta be #2. Fast (sorta) quick, and dirty. Perfect. Plus you can rob whatever else you need from the Lemons car.

Re: If you were building a BEATER '68 Charger for cheap...

Throw rings, bearings, new oil pump, cam and lifters in the 400, just a cheap overhaul on it. Stuff it in since its a bolt in deal and go have fun. Maybe throw a seal, friction and steel kit in the 727. Bring it out here and I will build it for you so you can make deadlines and stuff, hell I would even paint it for you dirt cheap. Might be fun to work on something without rust.

3 and 4 will cost more than the 383 install.

Forget the put a chevy in it mantra, even if it is an LS6, drop that in a early 80s Malibu or soemthing equally craptastic. Or you could start with all sorts of put a chevy in it articles, like put a 350 in your dishwasher. Drop a 305 in the water heater. How to sleep with a 396 and not get cuts and abrasions. Take a 4.3 to the movies. Use a 454 in the garage door opener. Then you can go wild and crazy with the garden and mailbox too. Its not just for cars owned by people with no imagination, a chevy will improve anything you put it on, near, or in.

Yeah I am a bit cynical.

I'd do #6 take all the funds you where going to blow on this turd, at make it flow toward the bee, so you can "USE" it. ;D.
if you HAVE to start another project (that'll get stuck in limbo) do the 383.. or 400. what block is lighter and shorter stroke.. AND the one thats cheapest to make the valvetrain live at high rpm.. (you are gonna wind it up, correct?)
you seem to walk into cars,, save the ls6 (guess'n this is an ls family engine not the 70ls6454)for a 79-81 sunbird 3 door or buick twin, with a stick , same as a monza.. nice lite and well with the ls6 dam quick..

                BWAAAHHAHAHAHAAH!!!!

I wil lose all repsect for DF if he stuffs a chevy into that mopar...so sick of the LS into everything mentality...the same guys saying do it are probably the same dudes that bitch when there is a chevy in a pontiac at a show or in a magazine. No one builds 383's except DF and a handfull of others...I love the engine and know it has huge potential and it is already built...the 400 is better than the 383 in terms of stroking it..but then he has to build it..and spend money on machine work and a kit...screw that...that 383 with a stock rebuild, healthy cam, good intake and carb should be good for 400hp..more than enough fun to use to flog on a beater MOPAR...

Is this the Green Charger with the cool paint? Thought it was sold a while back..... ???

I'd do the 400 from the Lemons car.

Last I heard it still ran well. Toss it in and drive the thing. I'd street it too, I know its a gutted shell, but we're not exactly talking power windows & air here anyways, are we? Title issues? They can be worked with if someone is willing.

Scrap prices are up too, so the shell of the donor should even out any small tidbits that aren't already laying around.

Hey, I heard CHEAP. This is as cheap as it gets in my book. (Yeah, I also heard reliable, but I don't remember reading anything about how unreliable the Lemons car was...)

Get it going & use the thing. Life's too short to bench race.

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Personally, I fail to see where "reliable" comes into play when the first thing you will need to do is to install a bunch of electronics in the car to tell the engine what to do, or what it's doing...

So, it's (#1) or (#2) if I ruled the world...
