That is a great intake for a strong street engine.

Um, no. I feel like I'm still going backwards. It seems the 'to do' list keeps getting longer.

Picked up the engine today. It's stored all over the place. Started bondo-ing the fender, but need to take a hammer and dolly to a big high spot. Started installing the gauges. I need to pick up the rings and bearings tomorrow and borrow a ring compressor. Carl needs to bring the engine stand back. blah, blah, blah, etc, etc.

              Sounds like a blast...

Was the cost of having the shop assemble it too high...or did you want to do it yourself for the fun of it?

Honestly, I didnt ask what it would cost to assemble it. Garrick said that I would save a significant amount disassembling it, so I guessed it would be nearly the cost saved to assemble it myself.

Its not difficult to put it together, just takes patience, especially if you are checking clearances.

that is what scares me about putting together and engine. I have never done it...I I dont have any gear head friends locally either....so if I ever get an engine done...I will most likely have the shop put it together. I can take stuff apart all day long...I just question my ability to assemble it with no guidance or input.

The paint I found at the parts store is too dark. You can see where I need to do more work.

While walking by the car today, I noticed how nice the paint still is on the cowl. This part is usually covered by the fender. I wiped off the dirt and sprayed some detail crap on it and it looked sparkly new, as compared to the El Cheapo repainted door next to it.

I also installed and wired up a gauge set, an old Kar Tech tach and replaced the alarm light in the dash today. This actually made me feel like I am making progress instead of screwing around with the fender. See the switch for the rear window defogger and the button that triggers the Light Watch. Both are very rare options on this car.

I'm supposed to be getting the rings and bearings Tuesday sometime. In the mean time, I'll get the block back on the stand and clean it with a brush set I got. Then install the oil galley plugs and freeze plugs. I also have to clean the carbon build up off the pistons.
