As some of you may know the last five years or so have been somewhat trying for me at times, lost jobs , lost hips, lost siblings et al. Well recently things have started to turn around a bit, the store has been doing well, my relationship with Mrs. 455 Lemans was getting back on track, things were looking good. My wife suggested I should go see my sisters in Colorado and do a couple days of spring skiing, who was I to refuse? So I flew out last Sunday and met up with them. Monday morning arrives and it is a perfect bluebird day I had broke my boots earlier in the season and was borrowing a friends, as well as skis I had never used. It was the first run of the day, we were skiing a warm up run on Aspen Mountain called Copper Bowl. I was trying to get a handle on my equipment, not doing any thing crazy or out of hand. And then it happened; I caught an edge and went down hard, skis windmilling and then I heard and felt a horrible snap. When I finally slid to a stop , Tried to move my right leg but nothing below the knee moved and the pain was the worst I'd ever felt. Got my skis off and waited for the Ski Patrol. They had to shoot me up with dilouded (sp) they could get a splint on my leg and me on the toboggan. Well when I finally got to the hospital for Xrays, the news was not good. I had a tibial plateau fracture (shattered the top of the tibia where it joins the knee) and and severely fractured my fibula. The Doctor said on a scale of 1 to 6, mine was a 6. He immediately screwed and glued me back together, and today I finally made it home. I am having a hard time coming to terms with yet another setback, burdening my wife again and untold months of rehab. The long term prognosis is for a full recovery, but it is going to be a very long road. I don't have a lot of people to discuss things with, so I hope you don't mind letting me write this.

[/quote]thanks Bill, I might take you upon that. And thank you to everyone else for all of your kind words. Though I have not met most of you on here, I feel I have a real bond with you all. It's so great that we can have totaly different philosophies on life, but have such a strong common denominator with our hobby. Today was a bit taxing on the system getting from Aspen to Detroit, We're still trying to get the pain under control, I'm starting to feel a little better. I have got the greatest wife a guy could have! I'm going to print my cell 'cause I'm trusting guy, I am going to be laid up for quite a while. 248-914-5509

Re: Well Shite
Well Tim from one Pontiac 455 guy to another, as well as one cripple to a fellow new cripple, if you have some time off and can get UP here for a vacation, the shop is open to you. If I were closer I would come and lend a hand down there, but I have a very hard time getting away from here. Besides you could probably use some off time, right? You can hang out, and BS while we get the LeMans in shape.
I hope you heal better than I did, I am not envious of where you broke it and what its going to be like. Hang in there and do your best to stay positive. Look on the bright side, you can get a placard for the car that lets you park up front! Its not a setback, its a respite from the rat race.Comment

Re: Well Shite
The Screw's are disco bitchen... means you'll heal twice as fast as the old days..... ( also means some pain )... the pain is worth the gain or the squeeze is worth the juice.... see it many times now... it blows me away how fast people get back from that...
It will sort itself out...
