    Re: Longhauler stuff

    good deal, thanks guys.
Phil, so you got to bail a day early? Bummer. The wife not going on PT?
Hell, I drug my wife to California for 5 days in a regular cab '84 F150 for 5 days to go pick up the body shell for my GTS...

We took this truck 3200 miles.

I always joked that trip WAS our honeymoon...got married in Vegas, and "hey, want to go to California?" She said yes, but didn't ask the details. I love technical clauses like that.

            ;) Hardtop convertable.
30 minutes to saw off, 3 months to stichweld back together.
Best 5 years of vehicular stupidity of my life. Daily driver. Worse thing was falling asleep in the summer, and leaving the top off in the bed, waking up at 4:30am in my apartment at that point in my life and realizing that drive to work was going to be soggy.

I set that thing up so I could undo 4 bolts to pop the roof off, and 8 screws to unbolt the tops of the door / window frames.
Glass stayed in the roof. I stuck two handles on the the roof so I unbolt and lift off and set in the bed.
I learned my lessons though. If I was ever nuts enough again to chop an F series cab, I will redesign the way the roof comes off, and cut the cab so the bottom of the glass is captured. I was figuring it was easier to use the bottom of the glass as a way to save myself a bunch of fab time.
Never popped out the glass though.
Top seal was a screwup, two flat faced pieces with a big weatherstrip. Next time, would do it with a top and bottom channel.

Sounds like you were making an old full size Blazer or Bronco from the 70's with the lift-offs.

                Re: Longhauler stuff

Nope. I needed a pickup, but wanted a convertible. Got a wild hair up my ass and decided what the hell, and got the sawzall out.
And that was AFTER I fixed the AC and had it blowing ice cold with r12...
                ;D
I miss that truck at times, but that's why you got to occasionally do some crazy stuff.
