Does anyone have any experience with these plug in performance meters? Good or bad?

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
I have a Gtech 'RR' - .. fun to try out different combos.. -yes it works fine..
Very accurate, when doing comparo-runs -brake tests, 0-60 -60-0 -quartermile, hp/tq.. -also very cool g-meter to dial in your suspension. -

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
The 'RR' lets you upload all data to your PC. -much more 'serious' than the 'SS' ..
You can see shiftpoints, g-meter changes, rpm shifts, speed etc, etc.. -This stuff is much much easier to read on a pc screen, than on a small display.Comment

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
I've heard that G-tech units were gimimcks. until we started using one for testing. I was blown away to find out that it was accurate when compared to our local quarter mile track timers - within a few hundredths of a second!!!
very, very good stuff for testing modifications without having to go to a track. Don't get yourself hurt when testing on the street though!

You'll find yourself jerking the wheel alot to see how many G's you can pull. Its definatly fun to mess around with. I used a friends for a few hours one day and have to say it was fairly accurate. I was suprised to say the least.Comment

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
I use my Gtech on every track run to get a real comparison. It is typically within 0.1-0.2s, but is almost always 1-3mph high. Every once in a while, you'll get an anomalous output, so it's not perfect (I had an 11.5 at 120 run once in my high-12s 383 Chevelle. Once it told me I was putting out about 600 ftlbs, which is a no-way.). The version that dumps an output to your computer gives you a lot more info to work with for tuning. I use the outputs to get the carb and timing tweaked.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. This is my first blown Hemi and timing and carbs are all set by guess and ear. ThanksComment

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
you have a good ear then, because I heard it run at the open house and Bob's, and it had great manners - considering the menacing appearance, etc. sounded and behaved nicely, I thought.Originally posted by bbbad2daboneThat's exactly what I'm looking for. Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
Thanks Scott. I've focused on the mild manners for the last couple of years to do some traveling. Now I'm getting ready to sharpen the teeth a little if I can and run it down the strip. It's no racecar and I'm no race driver but I've gotta now what it will do. Then I see someone break an axle and put it in the wall and I have second thoughts. If I was to have a mechanical failure and put in a tree out in my T&T spot I'd still have insurance to help so I think the Gtech will help me get it ready for just one or two trips down the track.
I think I've found a good deal on a Gtech Pro Competition that I can upgrade to a RR 4.0

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
Do they just record or display 1/4 mile, or is there anything for sustained Runs like LSR Vehicles.Comment

Re: Performance Meter (gtech dashhawk etc.)
It'll record everything from when it says "Go" until you let off the gas. If you hit the brake hard, it'll keep recording to show you stopping distance. I had mine pretty well in sync with my speedo and did some high-speed testing to see my top end.
