Just found out the trans cant be saved due to cracking in the case.

The process of finding a new heart has begun. Have to meet with a guy near here who has several sbc he is willing to part with at reasonable prices. Only problem is that I would have to pull my choice out of the vehicle it currently resides in. Been a while, but have finally made some progress. Found another motor cheap and am working on getting it ready to drop in. Unfortunately it is another 305, but for $150 for a solid running motor that I was able to hear run before it was pulled made it impossible to pass up. As for the trans, still in search of a replacement. :-( Finding a non ecm 700r has proven very interesting to say the least. At this point if I could find a donor truck with a stick, even an old school 3 speed, at the right price it would be a blessing. Tired of this thing sitting idle for so long.Hauling ass & sucking gas are the best uses for a truck.Comment

Update.....found yet a "better" motor from an 84 vette. Not a monster motor, but complete & ready to install. Rolling tomorrow to pick up transmission. Truck goes in for swap late next week. Wont be ready for Power Tour but will be nice to have her back on the road.Hauling ass & sucking gas are the best uses for a truck.Comment

Great to see this one back up - neighbor had a 'heavy chevy' as a kid - they are neat trucks. The 84 vette was the stupid crossfire deal right? Best thing that could happen to that engine is a carb and HEI! Good luck on the 700r4 - hope you get her back on the road before out oh too short summer has evaporated!There's always something new to learn.Comment
