    86 Mustang PITA

Just got home a 86 Mustang, with a 87 front end. No engine or transmission.

Has a fully adjustable front end, tubular K member.

8.8 Rear with C clip eliminator, 4.11 spool.

5 lug conversion on all four corners.
    Caged with sub frame connectors.

    Plus on really ugly wing.

Have a replacement stock spoiler plus a fiberglass hood

    Also an Aluminum Radiator

FOX body project cars are abound here at BS!

      Nice prechase Neal.

Street/Strip? Will it make a run or two at Maxton?

      302, 351, bigger?

Sorry, forgot to put my "plan" in. I want to go on drag week this year, with an eye on maxton next year.

My neighbor has offered me a 302, but has older 351 heads without harden exhaust seats. So looking for new heads. would still need transmission.

I have been looking at BBF's. maybe a used 460 one with a C6 for now.

My daughter wants to call it "Forrest".

Re: 86 Mustang (No clever name yet)

Neal, the older heads only need alittle lead additive once in awhile to live. DOOE casting 351W heads were the shit before the whole 5.0L revolution. 58cc chambers makes it easy to get close to 10-1 with flat tops. The big spark plugs are however, a pain in the hinnie with headers. I'd look for a 93-up 5.8L in a truck, there roller cam capable with stock 5.0L stuff, thats what my 70 has, 1st Gen. Lighting short block, E-303, early steel GT-40's. Its been bullet proof for 16 years.

A BIG pump gas 385 series would be fun with some spray but, a tough class on DragWeek to hang out in.

Hard to beat a 347 too.

Badass Neil.....I would keep it small block.....but put a chevy motor in there....LS1 would be light and the car is already lightened......Could be done and running for ~$1500....Would fly too....

I can't believe I'm on the same page as Seth, with a bowtie in a pony but, it does make sence now that you can buy the mounts and headers so easy

Nice work Neal! With as tall as you are - I'm guessing you will have to move that racing seat back - I like Forest ...

                          RUN FOREST ___ RUN! ;D ;D

I say stay SBF unless a BBF falls in your lap - just cause there is so much used parts available at reasonable prices.

I have some stuff left over from the SBF builds over the years - so - PM me a parts list and I'll see what I can send your way.

I have a couple extra quarter windows you can have if you want them too.
