Man i suck at updating this.

Wiring mostly done, I stopped at Summit today (Note: working close to Summit is a benefit, but also a like living upstairs from a bar) picked up new gauges, as well as new Trick Flow heads, complete SBF head are on sale!

Will be laying out the dash with the new gauges this weekend.

I ran twisted wedge heads on an otherwise stock HO shortblock in my '90 - tremendous difference those heads made.

Aaron has those heads on the W in his fairlane now.

Make sure you check piston to valve clearance if you are running a larger cam and your pistons are not specifically fly cut for the twisted wedge valve location.

Nice work on getting those heads on sale!!

              where's that drooling smiley?

what rockers are you going to run?

remember to measure for pushrod length to make sure you're roller tip is centered over those valve stems.

one thing I learned about these heads - they are NOT forgiving to valve guide stress -- I had to replace all the valves and guides since the previous owner ran 1.7 rockers with fubared angles.

Thanks for the reminder, The guy I bought the car off has a set of 1.6 that he threw in the purchase of the car. He just has to get them off his engine. I have to give him a call.

nice - great that the heads come with guideplates and studs.

mark the top of a couple intake and exhaust valves with a sharpie or machinist's blue if you have any.

with a used head gasket on the block, and a lump of clay on the piston in an appropriate location, bolt the head down, put in a couple pushrods and rockers on a couple lifters that are as solid as you can make them, and roll the crank over a few times - watch the roller action on the top of the valve stem I, and E, the ink should come off where the roller rolls back and forth - hopefully it's centered.

Then pull it all down again and see how much clay (or crumpled up tin foil as Dave prefers) you have between the valve head and piston crown.

this car is going to FLY

Right now I am shooting for moving under its own power.

I havent decided on what cam i am running yet. The roller block i have is #$%$. My neighbor has an older, low milage engine that he is going to give me. So I have to figure out what flat tappet I want to use.

based on the pistons in that older lower mileage engine - you might want to go with the super thin metal head gaskets to gain some compression - then perhaps get on the phone with Trick flow to talk about cams, I would definitely run the lifters with the EDM'd hole in the friction face to help the oiling issues... especially if you're going to run higher lift.

I know the TFS paper work tells you the spring specs - have those handy when looking for cams - no sense changing out brand new springs.

When I was building the stroker W engine I had camresearch in colorado grind a cam for me to specifically take advantage of the set up I had with the TFS heads - running more duration and less lift than usual to still move air, but not stress those valve guides.

I'm thinking one of the thumper grinds might lend themselves to this set up - as they tend to be more duration heavy... (right?)

I was just thinking - how far are you from Ann Arbor?

I have a roller block and other parts that might work for you.

I had to buy two roller 302's to put the ranger engine together remember?

Need to trim around the steering wheel and secure to the dash.. Only took me all week end.

yep, first thing Michelle said as well.

They need wired so they will probably be in and out of the dash a few times. I am just glad they fit!
