Get some insulated bib overalls, a nice insulated work jacket, and a pair of insulated boots. I only crank up the heat when I need to paint something or its colder than 10F.
Neal, I say yes to a Painless kit. I'm putting a seven curcuit in the Pacecar. Easy Peeze, lemon squeezey. So simple, a caveman could do it.
I got rid of the OEM key switch (locking colume not go for roadracing) but, am adding a simple on/off key switch on the dash to arm the ignition, next to the starter button (which is battery hot, to crank for oil presure) for theft deterent. Draw out on paper all the electrical systems you will have/need, it helps clear the head to sort it all out. There's alot of OEM wiring you can do with out in a type of car like this, think weight savings too. Wait till you see how heavy the stock key switch assembly is!
Get the Painless kit. The '80s Ford wiring harnesses are not standing up well to time. I've replaced a lot of connectors and dealt with deteriorating wiring on mine. Trying to figure out where the shorts are can be very frustrating.
Ugly wing is off, GT wing set in its place. I need to get the mounting hardware for it.
I talked to the guy I bought the car from. He is giving me a roller 302 short block that he just rebuilt and some roller rockers for $0. So engine has been decided. Will pick up the engine next week. He is cleaning his garage so there may be more stuff coming.
Engine is here, may need some cleanup on the bores. he gave me a x303 cam, there is a b303 in it the engine now. The rockers are still on an engine, he will be pulling them off soon.
Check your valve to piston clearance carefully if you are running stock HO pistons like I am...
- mine is tight by Dave's patented tin foil ball and measure technique....
Hopefully you can find a good deal on a good set of heads. I was totally amazed at the transformation the twisted wedge heads made to my completely stock short block in the '90 I had.
