Funny thing, I have been thinking about stuffing a Pontiac in my 71, just for fun. Big hold up on that is teh rear sump Pontiac and Front sump Ford. I know I could build a crossmember for it, but the steering is the issue then.
I agree on the FOx though, 460 or stroked Cleveland... may as well use canted valves since they are out there.
Do you have any kind of budget in mind? I built a 418 Windsor for my buddys Montego and it's pretty bad. Well over 600hp and he only drives it on the street. I can give you the recipe.

I concur.....Barry's Montego sounds WICKED!!
Seth
How fwst would that mustang be with Bar's motor......
Hell, I guess my budget if $5 less then when my wife threatens to cut off my manhood.
A 9 second car is more than I am looking for right NOW. Certainly in the future plans, one reason I bought a car that was already caged, etc. While the 418 engine itself could be done, it is all the other things that would add up, safety equipment, (the belts that came with the car are outdated), transmission, fuel system, etc.
So for now I am looking at just a good running engine and transmission to get the car on the road for drag week. I am thinking of running daily driver. (no Seth I am still not putting an LS in it ;))

I'm proud of you. ;D
It's a good decision to stay Ford, you won't be sorry.
Nice stang. I see alot of potential there. It should be easy to make your goal of dragweek when you are starting with a platform that has most of the hard stuff done. Find a basic 5.0 and through the hose at it. What trans are you going with?
Coming at you live from the birthplace of GM,Flint,Mi. Where your car is worth more than the property it's parked on.

Thanks. I am going with an automatic, C6 if BB, well built aod if small block. Definitely an area I feel I should spend my money wisely and not worry about it failing.
Does anyone have a good wiring schematic for these cars? all of the engine wiring is MIA as well as the feed to the fuse box. I am leaning on a 12 circuit painless kit if to much of the wiring has been hacked.
