    John Barkley's 1957 Chevy

While reading the latest issue of Hot Rod I spotted a familiar looking car not once but twice. John Barkley's 1957 Chevrolet. I had flown out to Nashville in 2006 to look at a Chevelle 2-door wagon. The owner, Dave, showed me a lot of his cars during my visit. He was particularly excited to show me his favorite which was stashed away in his basement. It was a 57 Chev that looked to be an old drag racer. We spent so much time looking at his collection that I missed my flight home. Dave was so over the top nice that he invited me to stay overnight and catch a flight home in the morning. It was Saturday night, the big night for Barrett Jackson. I spent the evening watching the show while Dave gabbed on the phone. He was what I would call "a player" as it seemed he knew most of the guys bidding on cars and his phone rang non-stop during the auction. I had pretty much forgotten about the trip until I saw the latest issue of Hot Rod. Guess the "old drag racer" was a famous race car. Wonder if Dave still owns it? Some bad pics provided below.

Barkley had a chance to buy that back about 2 years ago and didn't do it because it was too much $$. Don't know where it is now.

Dave Aldridge owned Barkley's 57 a few years ago. Dave's green 69 Baldwin Motion Chevelle was on the pages of Super Chevy in 2006.

I love Jr Stockers! It reminds of the first model I ever built. (Revell's 57 Chevy back in the mid 70's)
