Try tightening the plug gap 0.028" or less. You may be running out of spark energy.

Great movie of valve springs on the spintron.
It shows what happens when you begin to get spring surge and as valve float start.
Float is at the point when the springs are unwinding and spinning the valve. Valves
should not spin. You can check this on the contact tip. There should only be a single
touch line. If you have a star pattern you have uncontrol valve action and issues.
    Enjoy!

No. Depending on the ignition and the cylinder pressure.
An old weak ign may need to tighen the gap and it is a cheap fix if that is all you needed.

May of our boosted car run gaps at 0.024" or less 2000 hp and 25+ psi is tough to spark off.

We had that issue on the huber mustang, had to run as little as .018" gap at 35+ psi of boost.

Then we switched over to a distributorless, inductive coil-per-plug ignition and now we can run a .035" gap no problem. And the coils themselves never heat up, i.e. good for back-to-back passes for true street events, etc. The DIS-2 and MSD's "best coils" were not cutting it.

COP is great the coils have 1/4 the use one wasted spark or 1/8 without waste spark.
