    Dave,

Cool thread, man. I hope you don't mind if I add to it:

What are the worst dyno room disasters you have experienced? (show pics!)

    Ron
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.

1320video / Kyle - do you have a pic of the connecting rod that flew 30' across the dyno shop and stuck in the wall about knee-high a few years back??

that's what we get for attempting the "most power on stock internals" on a 7-bolt mitsubishi engine. Still, for stock intake and exhaust and cams, 455whp is nothing to sneeze at. We learned that, with imports, you stand BESIDE the car, and with domestics, you stand BEHIND the car when making pulls at the dyno shop.

Are dyno disasters a new thread? I wish I had pics, but they wouldn't let me remove any from the building when I retired, and they were all hard copies. Diesel-sized driveshaft failures, SBC hydrostatically locked, and a 375 HP starter motor (GE DC dyno) doesn't care - bent rods, chunks of cast iron everywhere. Actually, amazing few in 31+ years.

That's definitely a stump puller with 550 ft lbs a torque at 4400 rpm. Put it in your D100 and have fun.

Re: Let's hear about your DYNO PROVEN power combos

I have a couple decent ones....

Engine type and displacement: Small Mopar, 344ci LA
                      BorexStroke: 4.07"x3.31"

Dyno: Superflow 902 engine dyno at Beatty & Woods
                      Peak power numbers: 476 hp @ 6800rpm, 404 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm

Engine type and displacement: SBC - 408ci
                      BorexStroke: 4.165" x 3.75"
                      Compression ratio: 11.2:1
Induction: Weiand Tunnel ram and 2x750 double pump holleys
                      Power adder: none
Heads: Edlebrock Victor Jr for SBC with very mild work done (unshroud valves, redo valve job, touch up bowls)
                      Cam: Comp Cams Magnum 306S
Exhaust: Hedman 1-7/8", 3-inch collectors, 24-inch extensions (IIRC)
Dyno: Don't remember the make and model
                      Peak 600hp even(!) at ~6500rpm, ~505ft-lbs torque@4600rpm
(I don't have the sheets anymore so its all from memory. I can say it out powered out expectations by a lot and spat the guts out on the floors since we didn't use parts that would live at 600hp)

Engine type and displacement: SBC - 355ci
                      BorexStroke: 4.030" x 3.48"
                      Compression ratio: 7.83:1
Induction: 800cfm Spread Bore Holley double pumper
                      Power adder: RayJay 301EE turbo - 6psi
Heads: 882's with mild porting, 1.94", 1.50 valves (exhaust sodium filled)
                      Cam: Ancient Crane HT284 - 214/224@50, 114 lobe sep
Exhaust: Martin 350-1 Turbocharged system (CARB exempt!)
                      Dyno: IIRC its a Dynojet
Chassis - 80' Z28 with a 4 speed, and 10 bolt rear with disks running dead dino juice.
                      Peak 308hp@5200rpm, 406ft-lbs@3500rpm on 91 octane
We broke the engine in on the dyno and at 6psi with the timing severely retarded (24degrees total) and running pig rich it made the above numbers. We now have tuned the engine, and it makes a bunch more power and is now is maxing out the turbo (compressor map is identical to a T04B with a V1/V2 wheel- good to about 425hp). I think a 60-1 compressor upgrade would be nice but the cast crank, stock rod, 2 bolt bottom end might not like me.
