I am going to go by there tomorrow to see IF they have done the things that they were supposed to do this week. I also need to find out IF they are going to paint it this weekend. If they get it painted this weekend - wet sanded and buffed on Monday, then I am going to take Tuesday and Wednesday off and try to put it back together to make LR on Saturday. If not, I am still working on the truck. Brake pads this weekend and exhaust system next Tuesday IF the wagon is not done.

This really sucks - I should have left it alone!

if you go to back to flat black, a can of indoor/outdoor with a small paint roller is faster, easier, and does a great job. it worked on the 83's hood.

I will see y'all in Little Rock in by beater (POS) pickup truck. Now I have to figure out how to keep all our stuff dry on the those misty summer days (think last year :o ). My truck doesn't wear buckskin (no Tonto cover) so I am not sure what I am going to do cause it ain't all going in the cab.

On the bright side - I won't be queue up in the car wash line so I will have more time to prepare for the evening activities.

You aren't stupid. You just put faith in the wrong people. How long does it take to paint a car?

I've heard horror stories about paint jobs, the worse was a friend that got a "deal" and was promised 2 months and it took 1 1/2 years. I was lucky to know a good shop, she promised me 5 days on my job and I had it back in 4. It was a simple job, but a shop that can deliver is probably the most important quality. That plus they use PPG so it's compatible with what I use, and their quality is great.
I'd be looking for a new shop. It doesn't matter how good they are if you can't drive the car.
On the good side, it doesn't matter what you're driving, we'll still talk to you ;D ;)

My wagon sat in the first body shop (10 years ago) for 1 1/2 years and got very minor work done in that time. So I am familiar with that feeling. This time it is different. I knew it was a small shop when I took it to them. They are doing really nice work - paying a lot of attention to detail.

There has been extenuating circumstances which really impacted their ability to work on the car.

While I am bummed that I won't have it to show off on this year's tour - I am not mad at them.
I just wasn't meant to be.

I think the PU is Nice and I am sure everyone will like it and find it very interesting.

Could put a tool box in it and then put the stuff in plastic tubs and garbage bags inside of that so it would mostly sheltered and definately locked.

Jeb Clampett will have to get up pretty early to out hillbilly me!

I emptied out the pool box, rinsed out the chlorine smell and strapped it into the bed of the truck with some scooter tie downs. Add a couple long bungees to help hold the lid closed and we will be styling. Now a trip to Lowe's to see if I can find a grill cover to help insure it's waterproof status and that will be that.

Dang guys - do you have my house under surveillance or something?

The car came home today at 11:45am - YEAH!!!!!

You will have to wait for pics for a couple of days as I don't own a digital camera and my daughter is at Metrocon until Sunday night. So perhaps Monday I can put up some "work in progress" shots. I will warn you now that the car is not finished - I am going to be pulling the dash out over the next week or so. Then the dash, steering column and all the inside window garnishes goes back to the paint shop for their turn at getting prettied up. While I am waiting on them to get painted, I have lots of things to do. I have some detail work to do in the wheel wells before I can put the "pretty" wheels and tires back on it. While the hood is off, I am going to pull the engine out and freshen it up - Lord knows what that will actually mean as I am not good about just changing rings and bearings. :.

Man am I excited to have it back at home.

That's great news, Allen - until the car was under your control, you couldn't have been feeling good. Does it look as good as you pictured in your mind?
