CANDY TANGERINE PEARL! Put some pop in it! or we could do a vinyl wrap on it, DIGITAL FIRESTORM from one end to the other...... then in a couple of years ; you get tired of it..we just peel it off and your back to black primer again. or do it totally in CARBON FIBER wrap; OR A COMBO OF BOTH! possibilities are endless.

Your truck is pretty (I assume that is Candy Tangerine Pearl).
I have flirted with several color combinations.
I have thought about 2 colors in three panels (lower to stainless side molding, middle including hood, hatch and pillars, roof where the lower and the roof are a darker to medium purple pearl with the middle being a white pearl with a lavender tint. I also saw a Metalic Sapphire Blue (late model Nissan or some offshore crap) that was absolutely gorgeous and could possibly work well with a titanium / silver.

I have thought about it a lot but I can't make my mind up. I like subtle stuff and while it bothers me when people walk by the wagon and don't really notice it but I am sure it will bother me even more if the fall all over themselves about the paint and DON'T notice the changes.

How do they do wraps for old modified piles like mine?
How expensive are they?

I could get into something like the NitroFish or Oakley Funny car deals but I am sure that they are big time expensive and I am a cheap SOB!

my truck is candy apple red w/ rainbow pearl metallic....i did not paint it or choose the colors. painted with imron paint.
my truck was painted in 1986....was in storage most of it's life . not too bad for a 22 year old paint job.but shows it bad spots as well.

i will send you a p.m. with some links and if you want; i will give you the name of 1 of the best wrap guys in world.... in west palm beach,fl.

every wrap is custom, the vehicle gets measured and the layout or design...whatever you want is digitally printed on vinyl...then it is laminated ..from there ...your vehicle is cleaned and wiped down..the wrap is applied...go to the sites i will send you and see it! tooo hard to describe...i said it's LIMITLESS what can be done! it costs a fraction of what painting costs..../although it only lasts 5-7 years...guaranteed for 4-5 years....

We wrap our trucks and trailers for our promotional stuff because the government lease contracts stipulate no perminant alterations so we buy white trucks and then have them wrapped. Looks good but its vulnerable to rock dings because they tear the vinyl and then that looks tacky.

Rocks chip paint too; then it rusts..... gov. never does any maintenance of those. I work for the air force also.. recruiting has many trucks, trailers and cars done in vinyl. they sit in the lot.. never washed or maintained til they use them. It'seasier to replace 1 sheet of vinyl..then to repaint; if rock damage occurs. less expensive too!

Well .....

It clearly won't be done by May 1st as hoped. I talked to my daughter about going in something else IF it was not ready. She said she wanted to go even if it meant taking my POS daily driver - no air, no tunes and still single digit gas mileage. I really hope the wagon gets done but there is more than paint work that needs to be addressed. I need to check the spring pressures and check the valve lash. If the lash is off too much - then I will need to put a new set of lifters in it before we go.

I really (THAT WAS REALLY) didn't want to get into a big time thrash to make it but seems there have been lots of tests lately so this could just be another one waiting for me.

I registered for the tour yesterday so I am going to do everything within my power to be there. I even found a 69 XL with a 429 in Miami that might serve as a stand in should I decided to take a completely unknown unit on a ~4k romp.

Save the hate mail everyone, It does like nice ,but if I were going to the trouble of paying someone to paint it I would go with gloss black or at least semi gloss .The body is so straight ,I'd have to show it off like nothing but a shiny paint job will .Jus t my .02

no hate here....i just don't think you'll find much agreement.Have you seen the car in the real?

Sorry I haven't visited this thread for a while. No haven't seen it in real life. But I do like what I see in the pics ,just think like Keith that it could look better with shiny paint. Might have something to do with my paint isn't shiny(clear coat is wearing out) and I'm getting tired of looking at it. But as KT also metioned ,really as long as its what he wants thats all that matters.So cstmwgn what did you decide on ?

Well ..........

That is still being discussed. It is at the guide coat stage which gives me another few days to stress about it.

Black is in - as at the top of the list.
White is out - or at least very low on the list right now
Seagreen, Lavender and Tangerine are on the list as potential contrast colors

Factory Stainless molding is OUT as I can't bring myself to allow a 100 holes to be drilled in my perfect fenders, doors and quarter panels.

I think It would really disappoint both present and future junkies not to see that sled on the tour.

allen, i'm color blind...at least thats what they say...anyway, i wouldn't paint my car seagreen...LOL

a nice dark brown lower and cream colored top2-tone would look good on it!

Well at this point - it isn't going to be :'( :'( :'(

The shop had a death in the family and has been closed for a couple of weeks. So what little cushion to get it done is now gone. I have not been able to get the test panels to see what colors I like the best. Seems there is a strong possibility that I will be in a patina rich 66 F250 this year. :
