After reading about the supercharged straight eight Packard street rod built by Brain Thomas on the cover of Feb issue of HR, I thought it seemed familiar. Then I remembered I have seen it on Youtube a while ago. Here's a link. I pretty cool car!

Re: Feb HR cover car
I feel bad for doing it, but I have one bitch about the car. Amidst all the fantastic brushed and satin finishes, the blue and red AN fittings and braided line on the one area of the right side of the engine seems out of place. It just bugs me, with all the beautiful hard line work, why introduce that element?

Re: Feb HR cover car
huh ? AN fittings are a nice safety feature and are as 1947 war surplus as bomber seats and safety belts ....rat rods ..... againComment

Re: Feb HR cover car
I don't think they were blue and red as war surplus spidey. But I could be wrong, and if so, I've learned something new.Comment

Re: Feb HR cover car
that is the look rat roddy types are looking for , I thought , don't know if the horse shoes for bumpers or a frying pan for an air cleaner were in the 1948 hrm , but you know , it could have beenComment

Re: Feb HR cover car
Whatever you think you know about this car from seeing it in the mag or watching You Tubes of it - you're wrong. This car is 1000 times cooler than you can know. Like horsewidower I saw it at Bonneville and had a chance to look it over pretty thoroughly. It looks kinda rat roddy in pics and on the screen but in person it's amazing. I'd paint the body shell something shiny but that's just me. The craftsmanship is breathtaking. It's hard to believe that he built that body shell out of scrap and the detailing on the Packard is just amazing. If you get a chance to see this car, do it.

Re: Feb HR cover car
Cool car.. I would not go as far to call it a "rat rod" I think it's better than that.. Nice touches, lots of one off hand built stuff. "Rat rod" to me is all the clowns out there trying to "out junk" the other.. Like using mail box's for intake scoops Etc Etc..
