BBR's 545 83GT..... it is alive

I had the tank out of the car and cleaned it when I put the sump in. I think this is surface rusty stuff and maybe some weld slag, etc from the sump install. I cleaned it out after I sumped it, but I bet gasoline loosened more stuff up in there.

The first pass was ugly, ended up by the wall, then I pulled back into the groove, and rolled into the throttle. 1/8th mph was 52 and the finish was 93. lol

my car was doing the same thing for a long time...it would run fone for a few miles than die...start and run then die...

When I pulled the tank I found the pick up screen full of rust and it had a hole in it half way up and the tank was trash....the pump was ruined because of the metal flowing thru it as well. ended up with new lines, tank, pump and carb...ran like a champ but then it started it again...I decided that fuel was getting too hot so I wrapped the lines near the headers and it never did it again...

Sees to me your on the right track with the metal/slag and such gumming up the system..curious to see what the fix is.

looks like a resin chamber (cough) ... yuck. Nice filter, btw. I wondered about something this morning. My oil pan has some rust in it from me being neglectful and leaving it out during the rain after a power wash. I think I'll acid dip it. I wonder if that would help tanks? Or CLR / Lye?

It's about 12 miles out there. I think this is residual rust from me leak testing the sump. I figure it should be about cleaned out by now! lol
