Don't you hate it when you are working on something, have to modify some stuff, then once you are finished, figure out how you could have done it without modifying the part?

I figured out how to get the quarter plastic in without having to trim it as much as I did and now I'm sure it's gonna bug the crap out of me until I actually buy new plastic and redo it. lol

Ha ha most of my garage time is from 10pm to 12am on the nights my wife has to get up early the next morning to go work out. lol She crashes early and I go out back to the shop.

Yeah, the porno red thing.... I don't mind the red. Sure beats black though which was the only other interior color for 83 GT's. i HATE black interiors.

Went to the wrecking yard intending to get a heater control panel because mine was totally broken. Like smashed broken. Came home with a heater control panel and a tilt steering column. The column was lying on the cowl of a red 84 t top. Somebody had removed it to get to the pedal assembly. Score! I had been keeping my eyes peeled for a tilt column for a little while now. ;D

I like the idea of a tilt column. Was that difficult to do?

No it was super duper easy.

The column comes out real easy (4 bolts + steering shaft bolt) and the steering wheel swapped right over.

One thing to remember is that early cars (up to 82 I think) used a splined shaft where the steering wheel attaches, later models use a shaft with 2 flats.

Soak them real good, then park your overweight SUV on them for a few hours.





Not perfect, but MUCH straighter now!



Hopefully when I go out in the morning, they will still look like this. lol
