James, do they make a mini-spool for your rear axle? I ordered one for the 8.2" in the Firebird which is essentially what you have there I think. Found one for like $60-$80 on e-bay.

A mini-spool only fits open diffs.

This silly idea just replaces the clutch and steel packs with a solid steel puck. Power is still transmitted through the diff as the factory engineers intended, it's just "locked".

Aren't 28(27?)-spline open 8.8 carrier's easy to find? Or did they all come with some kind of limited slip?

I was just futzing with the puck idea since I do not want to spend any more $$$ on 28 spline stuff and have not begun amassing 31 or 33 spline parts. Although the 28's seem to be performing fine, I feel their days are numbered.

I remember the first 8514 that came in - the card/monitor cost more than my car! Come to think of it, so did the extra 4mb of memory for that first PS/2 Model 80 we got for the CEO. haha.

Probably not many. My use is a function of my cheapness, nothing more.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried welding or pinning the clutches and steels together to make a "puck"? Just thinking out loud. Haha.
