Vortec 4200 inline 6 - carb intake interest? Group buy.

    Hi,

A number of folks at stovebolt.com forum are trying to get enough folks together for a carb intake group buy for the 4200 inline 6cly. vortec. As you may know there are no aftermarket parts available for this engine - this lead to very low demand and low prices at the wreckers. These engines can be had for less than $500 if you look a little bit on Ebay. Look in the engine forum under 4200 possiblity.

    thanks

Self racing does neat things and we're aware of what Glen's doing. The idea is get enough interest in order to get a batch cast to get the cost under $300.

Clifford's become a rather difficult company to deal with recently, though... haven't dealt with them directly myself, but a lot of guys in the slant six community have had issues with them.

During the short block machining we replace them with std. studs on the head and mains - its a real finicky job and needs to be done on a mill.

Low inventories, slow response time, and slow shipping are the complaints I've usually heard about them - that and some bad cam recommendations. Seems the business has really gone downhill since Jack Clifford died. You might want to search for "Clifford" on slantsix.org to hear the firsthand accounts.

GM does not want to deal with the straight time to drill out the snap happy bolts , I have heard of guys getting them out , but not me , other than that , a fine engine , I hope they move it over to another vehicle if the trail blazer gets the ax

i'd like to have one of those inliners.

build a 6/71 intake and give the passenger a blind spot.
