Re: The Parting Shift: Ronnie Friggin' Sox
I remember reading about Ronnie's talent behind the wheel years ago, I think it was in Grady Bryant's excellent book of the early days of the A/FX and Funny Car scene "Match Race Madness". Anyway, several early Super Stock/ Pro Stock drivers were running around together in some new car, thrashing it. Everyone had their chance to row through the gears, and finally Rapid Ronnie sat behind the wheel for a turn. Apparently he didn't even bother using the clutch, just used the gas pedal and his golden shifting arm stirring the shift lever. It was obvious to all that he was faster, and more skilled at dancing on the pedals than all the rest.Act your age, not your shoe size. - PrinceComment
