Yeah, what he said...nothing like living vicariously thru other gear heads...

I cant wait to see this monster with a new coat of paint...
Yeah........this project has been a real trip

    back in time

I'll spend this winter doing some tweaking......a lot less
work than last winter that's for sure.

Ditto on following along and living vicariously. The one real connection I have is going for a ride in my cousin's new 63 425 hp 409. I still can hear the gear whine in the T10 as well. I was 7 at the time.

Got the shoebox up on the rack early this morning.

We removed headers for some 'tubal' adjustment.

Two tubes will be revamped......pic shows the one with
the most work. It's around the starter.

        These things have performed flawlessly......once
we have the two tubes done off for a Jet Hot type
        coating done locally.

I put about 900 miles on the car this Summer with
        very little 'gremlins' showing up.

        Next stop.......paint shop.

The ride along video is sweet. I think you should bottle that stuff and sell it! You dont get that
sensation from a new car... Makes me want to go drive! Love the sound...

Well.........got the paint shop all lined up and
man did I get a good one.
The car gods must be smilin on me.

Jim Hooker does a lot of race car stuff.....see wall of photos.

He's got some down time and is taking on my project....it'll have
to take back seat if a race car shows.

He and his son, Jimmy, do some real trick stuff and can't wait
            to see the finished product.

                  Shoebox is in the house.......
Unloaded the '55 at Jim's this morning.

Was sort of cool to watch him and his son
                  Jimmy go over the car.
They basically took their hands and rubbed over
the entire car to look for trouble spots.

These guys are serious about their work.

Found one area on drivers side front fender.....hell
                  looked good to me.

This is going to be interesting.

it's the only way to see if primered panels are flat. Oh...sanding them works, too....

bet they find tons more when the long block comes out..
dad always hates when I guy beings him a car and wants black or another dark color and says ot's lazor straight,
and goes around it with his hand and a white wax pen..
after doing this twice to guys and them going home and redoing the prep work.. they finally give up. and let him finish it.one guy didn't and just said spray it,, dad got payed twice for that job, once to paint it,, and once to strip it and redo it correctly..
I'd go bonkers sanding and sanding only to spray another coat of primer and sand again and again.
my car will be a light color cause I just don't have that skill , and I'd be in the loonie bin before i'd finish

I'm sure they might find some issues but one
                            thing they won't find......bondo.

Shoebox has all it's original California sheet metal.

The guy I purchased it from was pretty
picky and did a helluva job with the car.

                            We'll know soon.
