check that quart container again - if it's really epoxy resin - not polyester resin - it should have almost no odor.

I worked on our ski boat restoration (partial stringer replacement, complete floor replacement, etc.) inside my shop with the heat going in the winter - there was no issue with epoxy.

18 minutes is polyester resin - epoxy doesn't have short pot life like that.....
There's always something new to learn.

All I'm doing is what the factory should have: finished the product. Some of the blame is on me for that one quart: I poured all of it onto the fiberboard right off the bat. I need to mix and pour smaller, workable points and spread it out better.

Those bright red velour seats look great. Only problem is that velour is that its real grabby. By the time you slide behind the wheel, your pants end up on backwards.

Not real velour...it's the factory cloth material.

in thinking more about the roof, I think the best way to repair that will be to tig weld a patch in that is larger then the rusty area - less mess, and easier... so simply get some 18 ga mild steel or even stainless steel to patch the holds (one 3x3, the others 1" round for each hole).

So I'm understanding right: A patch for the larger rusthole, smaller patches for the bolt holes. Still wanting a "sleeve" for the passenger B-pillar?

Yep, Yep, not a sleeve - same dimensions, we'll cut the metal off and replace

Alright, got six 1"x 1" squares for the boltholes, one 4"x 4" for the rust patch, and a piece 12"x 30" for the B-pillar. That last piece is flat, they won't do shaping at all. It's 20ga galvanized sheetmetal. This work ok?

that will work fine.... we need to find a way of bending that metal....

Galvanized - don't breath deeply while welding that stuff - do plenty of grinding ahead of time.

Those fumes are poisonous - weld with plenty of ventilation.

Will keep a safe distance. Oh, BTW..you were right, it was polyester resin. Took 2qt total to finish.

Polyester - well - it will be hard, and somewhat brittle, but in that application should hopefully work fine - you just need it to hold it's shape right?

Good luck with the move man - I don't envy you that task.

All it needed to do was to turn the paper-like layered material into something more useable. The poly resin will work fine in this application.

The task actually isn't too bad. The Monte stays up here with the roommate until I can come get it in January, the Mirada is trailered down with me, everything fits in a 20-ft. Penske truck. The hardest part of the move? It's split between getting my bed upstairs by myself in the new place and the cat sedation.
