Spike also did hydro's, so he kind of bypassed the whole geometry...er...well, he trashed the book and threw it out the window. I am curious to see if they lowered his dad's 5A.

Yeah, he confirmed that he just cranked down the bars up front. I agree it can come down a bit up front but how far? I'm thinking 1" or less with no change in the rear....

            Re: Remy's '81 Mirada CMX

            No.

This is not happening to this car.

I've done right, haven't I? New brakes...new tires...new seats...hell, even new stereo equipment. Why, then, do you do this to me?

The Mirada got pulled over tonight, a first. Was coming out of a convenience store after purchasing a couple cans of sweet tea when the cop nailed me. I could not, for the life of me, figure out why. I creeped out into a slow cruise, so not noise or excessive display...WTF?

No actual brake lights. A warning to get it fixed and he tailed me back to the apartment complex to make sure I was ok. I parked the car with it's back end to the Ramcharger's rear glass and did an impromptu test: hazards, check. Turn signals, check. Running lights, check. Brake lights....AWOL. Noooooooooo....

It's late enough tonight. Tomorrow I'll rip the damn dash face off (AGAIN!!!) and get to troubleshooting. I'm hoping for something stupid near the pedals...

Check the fuse. Then the switch. Those type of things are annoying.

                Re: Remy's '81 Mirada CMX

I do have a slight feeling this might be related to the new stereo (all the stuff I had just put into the Ramcharger is now in the Mirada). It's gotta be under-dash.

                  Re: Remy's '81 Mirada CMX

One step at a time - I'm going to guess brake light switch - or a fubared ground.

At least Johnny law didn't give you a ticket.

I maybe the only guy on this board that doesn't like lowered stuff - if you're going to drive it alot at least, leave the ride height alone - this isn't a canyon carver or weekend scca racer right? You just had it aligned right? LEAVE IT ALONE! ;D

Hopefully in the light of day with a clear head and some fresh perspective - you'll find the brake lights are an easy fix....?
There's always something new to learn.

                    Re: Remy's '81 Mirada CMX

Have you taken a pic of the car and filled in that 1/4 window? If I had computer skills I'd try it for you. Anyhow, I don't think it'll look good and besides it will leave you with one heck of a blind spot. Worth a trial on paper first.

Anyhow - good to see the car coming along and sorry you have to fight wiring gremlins. While I LOVE my MOPARS they are not known for having stable wiring. Even the Dakota is not wired according to the schematic. My buddy Dave tracked down the trailer brake wiring and found that the necessary power pin in the fuse block didn't even have a wire going to it - and never did. A little jumper action and we're on line. Anyhow, MOPAR wiring has not been one of their strong points.

                    Good Luck

John, you live in the land of small ponds aka pot holes.... lowered cars get high centered there.... out here, well, it's just better ;)

why'd you take the stereo out of the Ram?

@Buickguy: The Ramcharger is going to my brother this week...see my latest roadtrip thread or the Ramcharger's thread for more on that.

@milner351: I'm not sure I'm going to lower it either. I would like a mild rake to the car, but I'm going to hold off on that until I get new shocks. If it gets dropped at all, it'll be less than an inch up front.

@Dan: If you remove the trim band from the roof, the rear quarter window is actually pretty sizeable and it will have the same overall shape as the J-body Imperial.
