I can still see the All Origional 34 Ford Sedan on my Fathers Property near Saranac Lake New York. It had nearly 500 bullet holes in it from all the Hunters. It looked like Clyde Barrow had been gunned down 10 times. You could literally push pieces of the body out like scored Paper. It had Rust and it is just a pile of Red Dirt now.

          Shame...

            Re: Cars in Barns

In 1988 I was looking for my first car. I wanted a Falcon V-8, and my Father said no. He had already shot me down on the one I wanted, which was pretty fast and known around town. So I was surprised when one day he says "I found a car and put some money down on it, we have to go pick it up" When we got there, I was pleased to find this '64 Falcon Sprint, with a very late build date, so it was equipped with a 289 instead of a 260. It was also a 4 speed, bench seat car in very nice original condition. The only thing it needed was a headliner as one seam had let loose. The price was $3500 which was more than I had saved at the time. Dad was willing to pitch in to help me get it because it was such a nice car. Well, I'm outside, dreaming of dual exhausts, intake and carb swaps, cragars and such, and the guy changed his mind about selling it. The car belonged to a friend of his who had passed away, and he was having second thoughts about letting it go. He decided not to sell it. We couldn't convince him I would take better care of it than he had. He never did anything with it, it still is there to this day, now it needs everything restored, and there is significant rust. I'd still buy it if he would sell it. This pic was taken about 3 years ago. It just sucks to see this happen over and over.

Damn, that's criminal. Cute car, and nice options as well. Hope you can get it eventually.

Man, that Falcon is cool. 289 4 speed is a dream.

                Criminal.

Very cool cars, so sad to see them in such dis-repair. I just updated my blog about another adventure.

                          Re: Cars in Barns

Finally got some time to do some triage on it last week.

Seems to be in pretty good shape… my guess (hope) is that it's gonna run and run well.

I've dreading the whole "full tank of 30 year gasoline" which is about as hard to get rid of in SoCal as Nuclear waste, plus it's been rainy here so I couldn't do much work as it's in the back yard on Jack Stands. My garage isn't big enough for this 'personal luxury' car, but I do have a nice "Cover Craft" cover to protect it from the elements.

Anyway, when I was crawling around trying to figure out how to drop the tank, I banged on it a bit and it sounded REAL hollow. I'm thinking my gas guage is stuck on "full." Sunday I'm going to confirm my suspensions and start prepping the engine for some initial "hand crank" revolutions.

I've got video of my trial and error process that I'll post when the site launches.

                          Stay tuned!

This is really a shame. I always thought those V-8 Falcons were cool. It still amazes me how folks just hang onto stuff and watch it rust away into nothingness. There is a guy not far from me that has had Several Studebakers, some very desirable, setting out in back of his store for years. He will not sell anythng. One is a two-door Daytona with a 289 (Studebaker) and a four speed. Another is a '55 coupe. Both were gorgeous automobiles when they were parked there 20 years ago. Last I knew they, along with some trucks, were still there, but now are basically worthless. > ???
