Latest project that I don't have time or money for

    HI,
My latest project is a 1967 Dodge Dart GT. It's actually in pretty good shape(I live in San Diego)but is missing a lot of year specific trim($$$$). It needs a paint job but actually runs and drives. Unfortunately it is powered by the Leaning Tower of Power right now, but I'm thinking stroker big block. (Man Mopar parts sure are expensive) It is an actual GT car with bucket seats and the best part is, I bought it at an impound auction for $475.00 and drove it home.

nice score. Build a turbo-injected, leaning tower of power. Blow people's minds.

Oooohhh ... yer killin' me. My first car when I was 15 was a 67 Dart 270 2 dr. HT (273 2-bbl), and I lusted after a GT at the time. An acquaintance who bought and sold Mopars in the early 80s had a super clean 67 GT 273 2-bbl car for sale for something like $3500 back then, working A/C and all. Couldn't afford it at 17 unfortunately.

Is the big applique panel on the trunk still intact? I agree with Pete, do a hopped-up six. When I had a 225 powered 65 Valiant Signet about 10 years ago, plans were for adapting an Eaton M90 from a Super Coupe, and EFI, on to the wee beastie.

Good luck with the project ...

      cheers

You sure it's a '67? Check out the marker lights....looks like a '68 to me. Cool car ;D I'd keep the slant and build the snot out of it.....Slants are cheaper to feed these days too.

Good eye. That is a 1968 Dart.

Hmmm.... maybe you could put a fiberglas front clip on it. radius the rear wheelwells, and build a slant six powered Super Stocker!

Great to see the support on here for 6-banger power! I'm growing more fond of 'em every day. A turbo or two, hog out the head - who knows where it'll lead you?

The blue Valiant on the left in the foreground belongs to Mike Jeffrey. This thing is a legitmate 10-second slant 6 car. Check him out sometime. The car is called "The Buzzin' Half Dozen."

If it is, it is, just that piece of trim alone is worth what he gave for it. The buckets are another $300 easily. I have been trying to find a set and I think I will go with A100 van seats with some Hemi Dart style brackets.

                          'Slants' are your friends :D. I've got a '70 Barracuda Coupe & a '71 Challenger with/6 power. I recently bought a Hemi-Orange '71 Scamp with /power(not to mention a 10-point 'cage & Frame Connecters...)for $1600 :o ;D. The world really needs MORE Inline'd Hot-Rods. ~OO6.

Slants are great engines. I drug a car out of a field that had sat for a long time. This field had flooded many times. The slant 6 was siezed. We squirted some ATF in each cylinder, and let it sit for about two hours. Hooked up the battery and broke it loose. Remote gas tank, dribble of gas in the carb and fired it up. Pulled that engine and sold it. It ran for a long time. The only thing it needed was a new fuel pump.

Nice score! There's a lot of things you can do to hop up a slant. A V8 swap would probably be cheaper for the same amount of power, but more common. Just don't go for fenderwell headers if you go for the big block swap; on an A-body this takes a lot out of the front subframe strength.
