It still looks like a mess. Oh, well, I guess that's what happens when form follows function. Although a bit of time spent with a scrub brush would probably help.
I did find a use for that oil can that's been sitting in my living room for almost 20 years.
Also, I got the oil analyzed. This may be interesting, or it may be boring. At least there's nothing surprising that I can see. Except maybe for the lack of fuel in the oil....which we all know is impossible with carburetors.
$25. Go to their web site to request a sample bottle, then grab some in the bottle when you change the oil, put it in the bag and put the bag and a check and the info form in the outer bottle and put six stamps on it and drop it in the mail. A week later you get an email. I also got a letter with the same report, and a couple more sample bottles because I asked for them when I sent in the sample.
Jim, are you going to the HAMB Drags at Mo-Kan? If so, you could come visit with us, the big swap meet in Springfield is going on that same weekend. Give me a call at 417-742-3068.
Yeah, I plan to get to Joplin sometime Friday afternoon the 17th, and leave sometime Sunday. I'll try to remember to give you a call when I get to the area...be good to see you again!
New drag radials mounted on chrome slot wheels. New lighter starter installed, 12 lbs lighter. New aluminum radiator showed up today, I'm working on moving the mount over 1/2" on one side so it fits. This is a "universal" radiator so it doesn't fit anything, but it's really close to the size of the one I had in the car before. Ten pounds lighter than then the brass radiator. I hope it cools at least as well. It has two rows of 1" tubes, and a very high fin count. Pics at eleven.
Pictures. I cut off the lower support on the driver side, and moved it over half an inch. I had welded it to the splash apron, but this time I decided it would be ok with some sheet metal screws holding it on. I didn't feel like dealing with the welder in there, near nice paint, chrome, etc.
The radiator was pretty cheap, like really cheap, $140 including shipping...so quality is iffy. It was painted silver, which kind of surprised me. I sanded it some so the black would stick, and I started painting the radiator black, I got the back side about half done. I need more paint, radiators take a lot in the fins.
I hope my pulleys get here in time, but I kinda doubt they will. flaky ebay sellers. Oh well, I should have planned ahead.
Man, Jim your car just has the look. Gotta love a good 'ol 671 sticking through the hood. Looks like your "fan shroud" got a second shot at life. What was it in it's first life?lol
