Its a tiny bit better than I ever got with the Caprice. Though, I am running 3.31's when I got that number.

I get about eleven with 3.25s.

I got a decibel meter app on my phone. About 82 db going down the highway.

I'm not either, with these gears! Mileage on almost the whole trip (gassed up in Tucson, 75 miles from home) was 12.3. Not too bad, not real good, but I can live with it. Most of the time the AFR was in the low 13s, it gets lower near home (4500 ft elevation).

I forgot to check the oil on the way home....wonder how low it is?

eeek. Oil. a flat tappet would let you know... tick tick tick tick... the PSD in my truck will definitely let you know. Since it uses oil for the high pressure pump, no oil = no noise. doh.

That's great mileage really, how did they do with the big 265's originally? 15 maybe?

That's not bad at all considering the high tech pick ups with about the same cubes but no blower, and about the same dismal aerodynamics - struggle to beat that number!

Our 54 has no tach, no afr gauge - but I only get teens with that thing - and it's a stock stove bolt 6 with no power to speak of.

I have an idiot light on the oil pressure, in addition to a gauge, the idiot light goes on around 20-22 psi.

The 427 is just about ready to start assembling...need a few more little parts first, I forgot to get block plugs and head bolts, for example. Block is bored .040, crank is turned .020/.010, and balanced, rods are resized with new bolts, and pistons are assembled to the rods. Heads had a valve job. I have a bunch of new parts, including a new hydraulic roller cam and complete valvetrain, and a Moroso deep pan with the notch to clear the steering linkage.

THat's where I left off, eh? everything still looks the same, but with a nice layer of bondo dust and turquiose overspray....

Pulled the car into the shop today, so far I've installed the ball joint spacer and shock spacer on one side. Requires cutting off the upper rebound bumper mounting bracket, held on by 4 rivets and two welds. Pretty easy to do though....and it only threw off the camber a little bit, I added a couple shims and it looks like it's right back where it belongs. I need to do the other side of the car, and then check the toe in and probably schedule an alignment. I got some coil spring spacers too, the rubber donut type, to install over the top of the spring, but I don't think I'll use them. I mainly wanted more up travel, I think the bad wheelhop I was getting was because the springs couldn't push the front of the car up very far before they ran out of travel.

                                Keith's A? I doubt I'll be able to....oh well.

I got the front end put back together, it has an interesting problem when I jack it up all the way, the upper ball joint got stuck under the frame and wouldn't come down. I did some grinding, but I really need to add an upper bump stop, which I'll work on one of these days.

I also called BDS about the new 2" idler pulley I ordered over a month ago...it was back ordered...haven't heard from them. Lady said it's on the shipping bench, I should have it Friday.

The shop is clean, I can start building a 427. I guess I'll start on that this afternoon.
