    Hot Rods new tactics

Anyone get a DVD in the mail recently? Looks interesting enough, but I don't want it and didn't ask for it. Now if I don't react and send it back to Hot Rod, I am on the hook for $7.00. I don't like this kind of tactic from any company that send you junk or sign you up for junk where it is up to you to send it back or cancel. What say you?

It's yours to keep my friend. It was sent to you and you didn't ask for it.

You do not have to send it back, and you do not have the send them any money. You didn't ask for it or order it, so you're under no obligation to pay for it.

Yep, I got one too, the first one in their Dream, Build, Drive series. The accompanying letter even said that since you did not order it, you do not have to send it back or pay for it, which is what I am doing.

I have received four follow-up letters requesting that I either pay for it and join the series or send it back, but I am keeping it. Maybe if enough subscribers just keep the DVD and don't pay for it, they will get the message that this gimmic is not such a good idea.

I also received a DVD from the NRA, with the same deal too. My video library is growing without spending any money !

          ;D

They tried the same thing a couple years back. Enjoy the DVD, and send no money now or ever.

Just don't agree to any more if they call you..... ;)

Does having a subscription to the magazine put you under any obligation? I had a bad experience with Sirius Radio over some shady tactics.

They've done that to me and I just drop 'em in the wastebasket. So far no one's shown up at my door demanding their dvd back.

You start a topic about it on a public website? :D

Dieselgeek, maybe that's HotRod's intent... Send out a few DVD's, have people bicker about it on various sites, then this 'buzz' will make other's feel they're missing out on something and might start ordering that DVD...

                        It's a setup I tell ya...! ;D

Yeah I got one also.......thought it was a freebee

Then I read that I need to send it back or pay
                              the $7

Sent it back........it'll be interesting to see how this
                              promotion works out for 'em
