Hee Hee I knew someone would get a kick out of that...
Hey streetshark, you aren't one of those ssr drivers we hear about on that other site??!!??!
Nah, I did attend one event that SSRFanatics put on and had mixed feelings. There are some really great people in that group but this place feels like home. I'd rather drive 'em than shine 'em ;D.
You may have seen the Western Scenic Tour that I am putting on, starts in Las Vegas on Sept. 7th, heads up through Zion and Bryce National Parks, then north to Jackson, Wyoming and two days through the Grand Tetons and two days in Yellowstone National Park. The tour will end there. email me at [email protected] if interested. Everybody pretty much enjoys vegas and touring through 4 national parks and some of the most awesome scenery in Utah and Wyoming, does not get much better than that.
well we know one thing, It will start 2009 in madison... could either go up into the u.p and around into mich. or go west twords the dakotas....at least that would be the best sounding routes. i'm not even ready for 2008, lets put off planing 2009 for now :D

Here's my guess...in 2009, start in Madison, then go south and east (through Milwaukee/Racine), then through Illinois, Indiana, toward Memphis, and then to....?...
After the '08 power tour (my 9th), I think I am done, along with about 10 others I have gotten to know through the tour. We can only stomach so much of the midwest and the bigger cities like Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, etc. They need to mix it up some. The idea of starting at the city they finished in was good, but let's go east-west already!! The old days of 10 day tours and 300+ mile days were great, it kept the car count down and you'd actually get to know a lot more people than now. I've been travelling with a great group of friends met through this thing and I'm glad I've done as much as I have. After last year, I really didn't think I (we) would be back. We had numerous blunders like a mad hunt for an 8 3/4 Mopar center section in Racine, a parking lot thrash to swap a junk Edelbrock fuel injection setup back to carb (no help from E-brock whatsoever) in Memphis, a leaking Procharger (awesome support from them, they rebuilt both of them for the guy,no charge!!), an accident, and several other miscues. This year doesn't seem so bad as we'll be far enough west to avoid the major cities. I hope to see the route include those awesome backroads of smalltown America. Where else can you stop for lunch at a small diner across from the Sheriff's station and wet down the road for an impromptu burnout contest like we did in '06? Even the mayor was there having a ball (he might have been the sheriff too!!).
Of course, this thing's like crack, we keep saying we won't be back, but here we are again looking forward to seeing each other in '08!! Unless the route shocks us for '09, we might be headed for the northeast on our own. See you on the road....
I agree that they will probably head east again. This will be my last Power Tour this year, it just costs too much time and money to be going back east each year. I'll miss everyone, but maybe I'll see some of the people on the Western Scenic Tour. I'm not afraid to drive my car, I just want a little variety and going over 40 or 70 to get back east every year is getting boring. Last year when I talked to Doug Evans about how to cut the numbers a bit, he agreed that heading west would do that, but he doesn't see Family Events doing that. Remember that Family Events runs this thing now.....
perhaps family events can work with bearphoto and do an east tour and a west tour, maybe held at the same time? this would cut the numbers and make it so east and west could enjoy. and those that want variaty can head to the oppasite coast.
