We are all for the route 66 thing, that would be cool.
Hey DF MoKan Dragway is just outside Joplin, MO ;D I am pretty sure it is just a few miles from the old route 66.
If you do Route 66, I'll volenteer as a guide from Cal thru Tx. I've ridden that route many times on my Harley and a few trips in the Vette. Arizona has the longest surviving section, and it's a bitchin' road!

Sections of old 66's route through Illinois are pretty cool as well....
I would like one tour on/to the West Coast,
and North to South,
What I would really like is a Tour using ALL of the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, one in a circle/or straight line along it, Dragons Tail, Fancy Gap.
Start and End in either Memphis or Nashville.
Roanoke one more time.
I know its a Drag car but in corners pretty well.

The Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive would make great East Coast tour legs. I'd also like to do Route 66, I've been on parts of it in my old Mustang convertible and it'd be lots of fun to do again. Whatever the route I'd suggest a pace that allows sampling the local flavor along the way! ;D
google 'cruise to the woods Iowa' and you should come up with one we do every Fall. Starts in several locations around Iowa and ends up in the same spot. I think this coming year will be the 25th or 26th annual. (using iPhone...)
I went to the CC Street Machine Nats at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in '77 and had a blast. Drank beer mostly, looked at cars secondly. From what I recall, not many vendors there. It was, after all, almost thirty one years ago.
I did that too. Attended CC Indy in 77 and mostly drank beer (78-78-80+++). Are you my lost brother?
A route in the middle of the US makes perfect sense. Not too far for east and west coasters, cool stops along the routes, weather that is usually cooperative, and gas prices that are not east / west coast. Plus there are enough cruises and rod runs on the left coast. You guys cannot have them all. Play nice and share. ;D
I would suggest anything that includes old route 66.
