How old is your lawnmower?

Not the dude mowing it, but the actual mower itself.

I was mowing the other day and got to thinking about when we got my lawnmower. Then I realized my dad bought it new in 1984 when I was mowing yards as a summer job. It is a Toro push mower with a Suzuki 2 stroke engine. This thing has been more than awesome. Changed the sparkplug ONCE and had to replace the coil one time. Other than that, it has been: fill with gas and mow. Now that I say this, it will probably chunk a rod this weekend.

My dad has a 1957 Lawnboy that he still uses when he does not want to bag the grass. Coooool mower. Like the one on the bottom left.

Mine's an old piece of crap craftsman that I got from my Dad. It's got duct tape covering all the rust holes in the deck. I'm holding out for a new one until next year.

I thought the duct tape worked out rather good. Now the lawn gets done in half the time with Bob running after the mower yelling "OOOhhh shiny".

We replaced our long overdue mowers in 2004.
Got a Yard Machines 42" rider by MTD with a 16.5hp Briggs & Stratton and a Huskee push with a 5.0hp Briggs & Stratton.
Not necessarily commercial standard, but they do the job we need 'em to do.

Just updated mowing equipment this year as a matter of fact.

Went from a 1947 Co-Op E-3 tractor with a 6" Landpride behind it to a 1997 Grasshopper zero turn with a 5' front deck.

The old E-3 was a big improvement timewise over a 42" Cadet rider for certain, but I still had to trim with a rider afterwards.

Now we can completely mow 3 acres in 2 hours. Trimming and all. (and we have kids, so that means around playset, sandbox, garden , orchard, 5 buildings, 30 trees, etc)

VERY satisified. No wonder it seems I'm getting more done this year, less time mowing!

Mine is a two year old Electric Black n' Decker. I was a bit leary buying it, but I do really like it. Funny thing about it, one of the first times I was using it my friend was there yelling over it, "IT'S WHISPER QUIET!" Hahaha. Actually it sounds like someone mowing the lawn a few houses down, I've heard shop vac's that are louder.

1997 Ingersoll 3014 tractor w/44in. cut deck. My Father bought it new and I recently aquired it.
The 70's era push mower finally wore out a couple years back, so I'm using a cheap pos with a non-adjustable carb.

Mine's about 45 - no idea how old his machine is, but it makes the grass shorter. Looks to be fairly late model Kubota (at least it's Kubota colored) stand behind with one of those little platforms for the operator.

I have a 5 year old MTD/Bolens rider in the shop along with a similar vintage MTD/Bolens push mower - both in a lovely green, both cheapies, both from Lowes. Make someone a deal on 'em, as we decided to have the lawn done given that we both have grass allergies. The rider has a new battery and a freshly rebuilt carb - runs great. 15 HP Briggs OHV.
