ouch. There's a bunch of us that are way older than EK that still know Nothing about (the alien life form known as) women. I know how to piss one (or more) off, but that's about it. Sometimes, by sheer accident I'm sure, I can make one smile.

I think when it's the right girl and the right time, it will be so natural that you won't feel the need for anyone to give you the go ahead. (other than her... lol.)

      sonofa!

if it aint one thing it's another.

FINALLY got the ski boat into shape (so I thought) cleaned up, and out on the water.... after changing the oil, filter, water pump impeller and running it off the garden hose in the driveway for a while - no leaks - all is well..... WRONG.

Started off the trailer fine - backed away from the ramp and started to move out toward home to put it in the boat house - started to get the RPMS up and plane out - feeling great about my restored old boat with no payments on sunny afternoon..... BOG.... STALL

Restarted fine - figured I have a plugged fuel filter or I'm loosing the fuel pump (it's original - 1986 carter on a PCM 351w)
Idled it to the boat house - found my neighbor waiting for me to tell me the carpet we just stapled to the bunks on the lift didn't last the 30 minutes it took to get there - sonofa!

Then - the bunks are loose - how the hell does this stuff happen- all this stuff is only a handful of years old - loose - wonky loose - neighbor is a good sport - he runs up the 45 stairs grabs wrenches from the garage runs back down - out on the lift beams he goes like a monkey - and get's the bunk tightened up in a few minutes - still have to put the boat on bare treated wood without carpet - oh well.

SO - I cooled off with a couple summer shandy barley pops and thought it over - pulled the fuel filter - blew through it - NOT plugged... so - I pulled the fuel pump - thought it looked rebuildable - but could only get the bottom cover off - the diaphram was not totally shot - no rips or tears, but it was starting to sort of decompose.... so - I searched on line and found quite a variation in price for the same part number - ordered from discount inboard marine with a 10% discount code - to the door for about $80. Sure hope that's the problem. Carb is a holley marine relatively fresh - ran fine under little load - so - I'm thinking it's fuel delivery - if I'm wrong - at least the fuel pump is new - and with any luck this one will last 25 years like the original!
There's always something new to learn.

check the lines, no matter what a few say, e10 turns the gunk in the tank into a jel and clogs up the the tank sock (if it has one),then lines, then pumps and so on..
if the boat is old the old tarnish from years of fuel turn to a jel from the ethnol..
we have seen this with allot of older boats,

So, you still spent the day on a boat, at a lake? And, you think that sucks.

I've been having lower back issues again.I'm only 27 years old and shouldn't been having these issues at this age. I gotta get to the doctor and get this checked out. Last time, I pulled a muscle in my lower ab and still went to work like an idiot.

My well-being is worth more then my job at this point I believe.

I had a week off work and spent most of the days off in bed with the pulled muscle sidelining me for half the week I was off.

I'm torn at this point at what to do.

Just because you're 27 doesn't mean jack. I'm 28, and I've had degenerative disc disease, some arthritis, and two twisted vertebrae since I was 23. It sucks out loud. Find out what exactly is causing your pain. Meanwhile, you have to take it easy and let it heal...and that takes time. I know...I thought I was better in '07, deployed, and did enough damage to get myself a medical discharge from the Army.

Just stretch it and follow doc's advice.

Yep, like Bryan said, age has nothing to do with it. I'm 24 and started having back problems in elementary school. Just find a good orthopaedist and try to figure out what's wrong. Good luck, and I hope you feel better.

I was just told I have two choices - fuse it or strengthen my core. I think I'll do the core excercises the PT recommended. They're isometric so you can do most of them anywhere.

Johnson and Johnson is supposed to be working on a growth hormone that will help, they are in efficacy testing phase now which means even if it works, it'll be 5-10 years before we see it on the market. It'll be a bigger breakthrough than Viagra if it works...

Beagle - I hope that back cure works too - Rhonda has had scoliosis (sp?) for years - she does PT goes to a chiropractor, and has added accupuncture - all that helps, but doesn't cure.

Scott - I hear ya - living on a lake may sound glamorous (like living in LA does) but with it comes a lot of freakin work - folks told me that - now I believe them. At least we're upside down in a house with a nice view and lake access.

Stich - thanks - the fuel line is marine approved stuff that's only a few years old - I replaced it when I restored the boat. I will double check where I got it from - but I think it's OK with the ethanol blend. Good point on the in tank filter - I don't THINK it has one - but will check. The fuel line at the pump and filter didn't look weird like it was "decomposing" but I suppose that's not a fool proof test. The fuel pump diaphram seemed to be "decomposing" - sure hope the new one is ethanol rated.

Yeah Runner1972, It is not age, it is genes and how you take care of yourself...

My back is fragged from 20 years of mechanic-ing. I am 36 and I have degenerative disk disease, arthritis in my neck, bursitis in my shoulders, The DDD causes severe back pain, and makes me fall from time to time becasue I will lose control over my leg or legs. I can't run anymore, lift weights, play sports. I cant cycle either...take the time to heal and know your limits

I spent the weekend putting the trans back in the Mustang, making new trans cooler lines and making up some new header collectors, no problems. Then tonight, a pair of bi-fold closet doors completely kicked my ass.
