    Re: Random thought thread

A friend got called in to help a guy out on his '67 mustang - just couldn't get it running right.... lots of little things wrong.

He tried setting the ignition timing -- nothing made sense.

Turns out THE BALANCER HAD SHIFTED 30 DEGREES!

Remember to check out that balancer during your rebuild - is the marked TDC right?
There's always something new to learn.

They are looking at re-making RoboCop, why do I get the feeling it's going to be a CGI suckfest?

          Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

I was thinking about this last night. When people age their eyesight gets more blurry but the colors stay the same...
why don't the colors degrade? I know someone will answer this and I will look stupid...I'm OK with that...

My mom just had cataract surgery on one eye last week and will have the other one done next week. She says colors are much more crisp in the eye that's already operated on. That's a partial answer for you I guess. :-\
Also my eyesight is TERRIBLE without glasses or contacts. I can't even read the big 'E' at the top of the eyechart. But colors stay the same because the problem with my vision is the focal points in my eyes are off. Think of it like a camera that's out of focus. You still see colors, but the outlines of everything is blurred.
                  I'm probably wrong

So aren't cataracts like a thin covering? That would make sense that the colors are crisper...
Why are men the only ones that have color blindness? I had a boss once, when his wife went out of town for a week she had to lay all his clothes out for the week or he would show up looking clowny..Is that a word? clowny?

Lol! Clowny - I like that! Don't know much about the color blindness thing, other than a good friend of mine was colorblind. he had a 1970 LeMans but he had no idea what color it was since it was golden brown.
There may be different kinds of cataracts, but Mom's was a clouding of the lens, they actually replace the whole lens. So I guess the closest analogy would be a semi opaque filter on a camera.

colors do degrade,, ask any good painter.. my dad had to get eye work done because he was having issues matching paint
now he's back to pointing out cars that have been fixed and blended paint work at shows..
you just don't notice the contrast untill they fix one eye and you're waiting on the work on the other..

So colors do degrade...hmmm if a 5 yr old and a 60 yr old are looking at the same color, they may not actually be seeing it the same. I blur my vision on purpose when I am oil painting because it helps me to see the bigger pictures of what I am looking at, I am glad that the colors come through clear (at least for now..)

                            it's the brightness and contrast,,
you can still see that one red has more green in it than another shade but the yellow in it might get harder,
I can't really tell ya, my eyes seem fine, but dad said the different was night and day, he could tell the faintest in different shades(needed when painting a car with tri coat )

LMC Truck has more of my money.

The boys were putting the gas tank back in Goliath because the floors are done and Jon's finger went through it...rotted from the inside out. DOH!

A new tank, sending unit, filler tube, and grommet + two day shipping + ordering it from my hotel room while traveling on business and letting my wife know this morning = costly on a couple fronts. :D
That which you manifest is before you.
