Re: My new Liberty Faceplate job
I like the face plate gears. I have a few old Doug Nashes and just put together a 4 speed with 3/4 G force face plate(5th is blocked off)
I am going to put in a 5 speed later, but it is a Pro Shift . I am a little nervous with that, but I can swap back and forth
I will go face plate with them next year
I am glad to see the stick car stuff and hopefully you post how it works out for you when it is installed

Thanks Tom.
Hey have you ever been on the site www.umtrnorth.com It's a site for the "United Manual Transmission Racers" There are a few old Vettes and alot of other stick car enthusiasts there. We have around 50 cars at each race through the season at tracks in Ohio. The web board has the most track proven information and advice anywhere.

Re: My new Liberty Faceplate job
No matter what anyone ever says about Automatics being more consistent, and so on, and so forth, stick cars will still always rule. I love banging gears. Dad is still my hero and could take on anyone I've ever seen or heard about with a stick car. Any of you that saw him on DragWeek after we got the shifter fixed in his car know he bangs gears hard. No lifting, just breath on the clutch and pull. And he did it with a T56 6 speed from Keisler that wasn't set up for drag racing. My hero for sure."A cross thread is better than a lock washer." Re: My new Liberty Faceplate job
I agree with you Chad about how fun banging gears is. My 65 Impala was originally an automatic. And, against every one of my friends and co-workers' advice (all none carjunkies); I changed it to a stick. Never regretted it, even after being stuck in LA traffic for an hour. I may walk a little crooked after that, but I am still smiling.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: My new Liberty Faceplate job
When I went looking for a 62-65 Mopar I couldn't believe my luck when I found a 64 Savoy, slant six, three on the tree from the original owner. It didn't take long for the 440,4 speed, and Dana to find a new home in the Savoy. ;D

Hi Gus
I just went to the UMTR web site before X mas and a fellow on there sent me 3 DVDs. Do you know Smitty on the site? He has been a big help to me
on running the Doug Nash trannies. I bought my last trannies off a fellow who runs in Gearjammers
take care

Re: My new Liberty Faceplate job
Does anyone know of anybody having the Liberty faceplate conversion on a Muncie? I was thinking of buying a set of the new wide ratio "rockcrusher" gears and having the faceplate treatment done. I already added the supercase and the iron midplate and was wondering if it would hold up to the brutality of the shifts with the faceplates.Comment

I don't see why not, but you can phone Craig or Paul at Liberty Gear to confirm it. I have talked with Paul before and he is very nice to deal with
To reduce the violence of the shifts and to help keep your tranny alive, you should consider an adj clutch if you are using a slick
