Just a bit more on helmets -
I bought a new M2005 a couple of years ago. This is OK for car or motorcycle competition, but if I had it to do over I would have gotten the SA. Todd Dross, the motorcycle inspector, told me the difference, and it's this:

    "M" has more crash protection
    "SA" has greater fire resistance

If you think about it, both of these make perfect sense.

In a car, I'll take the fire resistance. Sooner or later I'll get a new one and it'll be SA, even though they are more expensive. In the meantime I'm not going THAT fast......

      Good one Dan.

      .. and even more on helmets;

The ECTA will require M2005 or SA2005 Snell Foundation certification on all helmets begining
January 1, 2011 with a manufacturing date not to exceed 5 years.

If you are looking for a new helmet, keep this in mind.

What idiot would risk their life to run an unapproved helmet....

On a brighter note, car is on the trailer awaiting delivery to maxton, via myself ;D

Good. That should keep the monkeys busy between rounds. Not sayin' who those monkeys ARE, exactly...... Truly, it will be good to see the ol' wreck on the track again.

I technically lied. I do have to pull the car back off the trailer, the paint is horrible, and I need every aero trick I can think of so I am going to buff it out. And double check the fitment on the nose we repaired. I'm really hoping the slick paint will help the mph....

                            Technically you suck then.
Slick paint will probably get you an extra .001648923623 MPH.

The head is still off the new engine. It's CC'd, the cam is out of the old engine and ready to slide into the new one and I'm working out where to index it. Then it's clay for valve clearance (probably fine) and reassemble and reinstall. If Seth is REALLY willing to help next week (like he doesn't have anything else to do) he could help slide the motor back in and hook everything up. I'd like to run it over the dyno if possible before the meet but I'll live w/o that if we run out of time. I've been wrenching pretty diligently. I'd also like to pull the fuel tank and replace the sock if time allows but that may get done before the June meet. Not sure it's an "issue" but I'd feel better if I checked.

The dyno will just provide an indication of worth before your first run, you can do without it for May.
Regarding the fuel tank sock replacement, just put in a large inline filter (and bring a couple extra's) and you're done for now.
.. focus on the have to have's to run !
