    Favorite automotive "scents"

A while back, DF posted the topic of "Worst Automotive Fluids". Which usually equates to a "bad smell", what about "good smells".

What are your favorite automotive smells
    Mine:
    1. The classic "new" American car smell.
    2. Burning rubber.
    3. The smell of fresh paint burning off a newly rebuilt engine.
    4. Fiberglass resin, aka BONDO.
    5. Okay, this is a strange one. When I was a kid and I was riding in a car with A/C, I liked to stick my face up to the vent until I couldn't stand it anymore. I like that musty smell that comes out of the vent when it's blowing really cold, I still do it sometimes. :-[
Just groovin' to my own tune.

    New tires.
    New leather interior.
    New exhaust metal smell.
    Nitro fumes.
    Burnt rubber.

My weird one was Dad cracking the window and the cigarette up there next to it. Made it smell different and instantly reminded of road trips.

I threw out my A/C awhile ago, it´s all the crud in there that gives it the "musty" smell. :o

Here's where I get a little weird- I love that "old car smell" that cars get over time, when they haven't been restored-just driven. My old '68 Road Runner always had that "old Mopar smell" that was an integral part of it's appeal to me. It was a little musty (musky?) odor of old plastic, upholstery, carpet, maybe even a little mold and butt sweat, but every time I slid into the seat it just smelled like home.

burnt rubber.. but it has to come in the side windows of your car when youve just finished merging onto the interstate. other people's burnt rubber just isnt the same..

melting underbody coating. you know it melts off when you install long tubes.. kinda funky smelling..

                        half burnt gasoline..

That would have been number 6. My '71 beater Montego's interior is completely original and it's got that great "Old" car smell. ;D

My wife has like three dozen different scented candles. I so want a race-gas candle, but Yankee Candle refuses to make one. I don't think they get it.
