MAXTON: June 28-29, 2008. (Bring the Heat) 6 Weeks

Maxton in June can be Hot, so bring the Sunscreen, Water, and portable Shade.

Hopefully I can make it to the Track this time. Looking forward to seeing all of the Familiar Faces and a few new ones. After it set in that I was'nt going to make it to Maxton this week, I realized that it is really a part of me now, and I will chalk it up to a Loss. I really do like this stuff. Hopefully, New work will let me get back to what I like to do.

I am ready to start the next round of projects on the Kia / Streamliner, and ready to start a new Job, and getting ready for my next trip to MAXTON. See you all there.

Cool, I hope to help out, and get them down the track along with my Rice Bomb.
Finally got all of my Racing Safety Drivers Gear, now I can go up another step or two with my Licensing. SOmetime in the next year when you get both of your Rides sorted out you can help me out with that . You can drive the Kia and see if you can get more out of it.

Right now it looks like I have the Job Down in Ozark Alabama, with US Helicopter, about 10 miles from Keith. Maybe that will get me going on the Streamliner. It was the reason I started Racing to begin with, so I owe it to myself to get it on the track.

Hey, you don't waste any time, do you.
Pining away for the track are you ??

And I'm not sure you are allowed to start a thread for the next meet while the current meet is in progress !!

Slaving away in the shop trying to modify/reassemble this C/GMR for the June meet; it's moving along but time is slippin' away. If you saw an old fart skulking around Saturday morning @ Maxton cruising between the starting line and the paddock in a black '40 Ford coupe , that was me checkin' things out. If I could have stayed, I'd have helped out, Dan. Once back from Speedweek I'll help you out in September. vic

I feel like it is my new Duty to get the thread started even for the guys that can't make it. I'm sure that someone else will jump me for the September Event now, but, what the Hey. It's what we do. Just remember that the Maxton Thread Starts here, and it is the best one.

For all of the New Guys that did go. Did we lie that it was the best thing ever?

I've ordered a few more parts for the Z, but there is quite a bit
of fab work still needed before it can be teched for 150... Time
isn't on my side, for sure...

                Done:
                -Cage
                -Kirkey seat
                -Weight(i.e. Interior)removal :-)

                Purchased/To do:
                -Gusset/brace cage
                -Install battery box & switch
                -Install 5-pt. harness

                Ordered/On the way:
                -Driveshaft loop
                -Arm Restraints
                -Hood pins

                Yet to buy:
                -Racing suit/helmet

                    Good call on SAFERACER, Randy...

Wow, what a day; the driveshaft loop I purchased was
made to fit on a LS1 car with OEM exhaust... SO I had
a hell of a time getting it on(i.e. Chopped the entire
exhaust system off ;D) It's cool, I was going to replace
it anyways. And open long tube headers sound oh so
                    nice :D

Yeah, they did me good, And all Name brand Race Gear to. For all of my Safety Systems like Fire supression, Parachute Setups, and specifics on how to install Seats and Belts I will go with Joe Timney, He will know exactly what you need for your Specific Setup, and meeting all Class Rules. That will save a bit in the long run. Do alot of research for your Equipement, I always hate buying a System for the Car and then have to buy a bunch of other stuff to install it. I've learned that if you by a setup, get all the supporting gear from the same Manufacturer, and to exceed the application you want. (You will) change it in a year to move up in Class and have to pay for another setup. That's why I'm starting with a 10 - 12 point cage in the Kia, May never need it, but it is there ready for any upgrades I would ever need.

Agreed. I'm setting the car up for a 175(B) license, and I plan on running that with some N2O. The cage will be good to
200mph, once the cross bracing/gusseting has been done. All of the other gear(parachute, fire system) will come after I get
my C license and some $$ in my pocket again<Expensive? Yes. Totally worth every penny? You're damn skippy ;D>

This is NOT going to be purpose built for LSR, however. I plan on using it at Maxton, the 1/4 mile strip and Auto-X/SCCA
events. Steve and I have some other plans for an LSR-only car... Class? Who needs to be in a stinkin' class? ;D ;D

As for the logo, Steve... Right you are, sir. Badass. Bad-mother-f'in-ass.

I've been driving around with The new sticker on the car sinse the beginning of the year. It is a good looking sticker. (And it makes you go faster to boot).
