    So at Barrett-Jackson...

on Saturday evening is a 1965 Plymouth altered wheelbase car being ran through. The Gary Ostrich sedan car. Anyone want to guess what this will go for?

Looks about like one of our 1:18 scale ones...

So how much you think the real Ostrich AWB car will bring?
I'll be the first guess at $175,000

Well it's not a Factory Altered so it may depend on two Wealthy old Gentlemen bidding against each other trying to impress their Trophy Wives! That was a mean spirited statement to make wasn't it, I feel really bad about that.

It depends on whether it sells before or after "the air leaves the room." Stuff selling late on Saturday tends to underperform. Stuff that sells in the build-up to whatever the "climax" Saturday sales are often sells over market.

Now that Wentworth (or whatever his name was) isn't bidding up drag car prices for the "America's car museum" project, the drag-only stuff has slumped. I'm going to be shocked if this one brings much over $120,000.

The stuff that brings the crazy money is: (a) rare restos (b) Shelbys (c) Restified shoe-boxes (d) quality street rods (e) exotics and (f) significant race cars driven by big names.

I don't see this one really fitting into any of these categories. "Gary Ostrich [is one of ]the best racers that no one today seems to have ever heard of." http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.c...ockowners.html That may hurt the price.

Low $100's the market is still way down, hemi stuff hasnt been selling well either, and its not a big name car.

Let's see.... so far guesses of....

                      $99,000
                      low $100,000's
                      $110,000
                      $115,500
                      $118,000
                      $120,000
                      $150,000
                      $175,00
                      and $225,000

Well it's not a Factory Altered so it may depend on two Wealthy old Gentlemen bidding against each other trying to impress their Trophy Wives! That was a mean spirited statement to make wasn't it, I feel really bad about that.
I know it's not a factory supplied car as only 6 hardtops were done by/for Chrysler, so one of those would be "extremely" rare. Yet it was a factory backed car built in Detroit using the templates/spec sheet supplied by Chrysler. Still no offense taken (how could I?) as your 100% right in your accesment of some of the bidders with the T-wives. Yet that may be more on "sporty" type cars that the gals actually would like. Not this one. So, this car even though kinda cool, may sell lower than I guessed ($175.000).

Now who's else is gonna post there "selling price" guess?
