Hi Pete!
Glad to see the engine showed up. Yes - you can just plug the holes for the AIR system - brass pipe plugs work fine. Have a set in my 292 head, but the PES head has an older core and doesn't need them. The air pump is there to inject air downstream to burn off any unburned fuel in the exhaust manifold - generally, there's enough heat and in some circumstances, enough fuel. Not necessary on a modified engine, and it's old technology, anyway.
Your plan looks good to me. Unless you have a local machine shop that you trust, I have a guy to do your head - send a PM or call me and we'll talk. He's done a JILLION I6 Chevys.
Got the PES head on mine. The block has more ring ridge than I'd like to see, but the plan this year is to run the short block as/is. Got the side covers back on, the push rods in place, and the roller rockers on but not lashed. I took a bunch of pics so I can show you how this all fits together - kinda cool.

We need some of the math guys to ring in and give the precise value for a Jillion. I was going to use "shitload" but Pete's young and impressionable and I didn't want to pollute his young mind.
Actually, we've PM'd on this already, so he has the contact info. Not to brag on the machinist, but he has a honing plate for a Chevy six - how many shops can say THAT!?

Not many,Dan . I *think* only "full-line" Machine Shops would have a L6 Torque-Plate,like(Kay..)Sissille's. Meanwhile,my "Lump-Port" 'Head arrived this past Tuesday,along with my "Fabbed" Valve-cover . Yay! ~OO6.

Cool! Whose Lump Port did you get? There's only a few folks who do them, and as far as I can gather, they're all pretty comparable. Is someone making a fabbed valve cover, or was it a special-made thing?
Do we need a category for inlines? We can bug David or Chad to set it up.

Great lookin Chevelle! You dont see very many post models anymore, well around here at least. Too bad you wasnt closer to Ohio, my buddy has a 250 or 292 (Pretty sure its a 250 though) for sale. Its an old Limited Late Model motor. Im not sure on the specs but I do know it made an honest 520HP on Gressmans Superflow dyno. From what I remember, it has like 13to1 comp, a nasty solid cam, ported head with bigger valves, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Clifford intake Ect. We never could find a valvecover tall enough for the rockers so we had to do some clearencing with a ball peen hammer on a chrome cover. Looks like someone shot a whole box of #9 buckshot in it. Its currently sitting in a 77 Nova and has a brand new header that goes with it. Ill see what all is in the motor for sure for anyone interested in it. This thing can be had CHEAP. He never finished the Nova, but on the trunklid I told him to paint "BURRRRP, I just had a V8" Good luck with it
