  • Caravan from Arkansas to Madison, with a stop in Le Claire, Wisconsin

    Ok gang,
Here's what I'm up to. I have taken the liberty of contacting the folks at Antique Archeology (American Pickers on TV) and asked them about convening on their facility the morning of June 5th. I am awaiting their thumbs up before I finalize anything but our plans are to travel to Le Claire on June 4th and spend the evening. Then get up the morning of the 5th, visit their shop and hit the road to Madison. I think it's about 130 miles from Le Claire to Madison.

So whadd'ya say ? Is anyone else interested in caravanning up and taking the tour ? I am not set on a given time to leave NW Arkansas. but the Tom Tom says it's an 8.5 hour trip from here. I'd like to leave Lowell, Arkansas no later than 11:00 if possible. Let's hear it folks..........

If I can get enough time off I think we'd like to join you. Should know sometime later. Have you got hotel reservations yet for Le Claire?

We stopped at the Pickers last year. Lots of great stuff to see.

      We stayed at:

      The Holiday Inn Express,
      1201 Canal Shore Drive,
      Le Claire Iowa,
      52753
      563-289-9978

This is right on the river, and they had no problem putting up with us. There is also the Buffalo Bill Museum.

We ate at Sneaky Pete's Cowboy Steaks in Le Claire, great food at a fair price.

I even had a police escort into town right to the Pickers Place. Watch the speed limit coming in, it drops. There is an undercover black Mustang GT LEO car, don't race him at the red lights.

When we left town the next morning, we drove 67 North to Rt 30, the Lincoln Highway. Then East to rejoin the route. That was a great drive.

You guys will enjoy stopping up there.

We also went by AP last year. None of main people there. Very slim on shirts and shirt sizes, and MANY people gave them heads up that we were coming. Cool place and cool town. I think we stayed in the Super 8 there last year. We are heading out from Ft Smith on the 4th and staying outside St Louis to meet our caravan gang we drove with last year. You are more than welcome to join if you like...at least lets meet up for drive home since we are headed same way. Brian

We hit them up last year too as we didn't want to wait in traffic on the bridge to get into the venue and weren't long haulers. Great place.

Brian, sounds good on the caravan home. I'm also in contact with a guy from Rogers who is long hauling and Ed lives just a bit north of us as well. We can certainly plan on running together on tour and caravan home if you like. Let us know if something changes and we will do the same.

              Thanks, Dean

Ed, thanks for the thumbs up. Not sure this old truck qualifies for any kind of "power" tour. LOL

Hawk, I first saw your Maverick in Arlington in 2013. Love that car ! We were there in our Mach 1. This year we are taking our 79 Indy F-150, unless of course it isn't ready. If the F-150 isn't ready to make the trip, it's back to the old faithful Mach 1.

Patrick and Tammy, see y'all there !

On that note... I received an email from the folks at Antique Archeology. They said they'd love for us to stop by but they want us to park down at the levee because they have such limited parking. So, there's the plan. We've got a few folks meeting up for the trip to Le Claire. The more the merrier !

I'll park my Chevy on the levee, but only if the levee is dry!

Well the mav is down right now but she'll be ready OR I have a 67 Camaro that me be added soon...so that may be a PT possibility too.
