        • Looks Great! We managed to fix an issue with the 4WD actuator for the front axle, fix a slight rubbing issue, and get a good reliability run on the ZR2...I also found that there large discrepancies in advertised tire specs... 31x10.50 turned out to be 29.6 x 9.8?? The new shoes are 31.6 X 10.4... Tight fit, but really fills it out nicely...

            • Got one of the heater ducts installed but the other had clearance problems but I have it figured out how to fix it.

              • I got the heater ducts installed and all clearance problems solved. So I guess now I have all my ducts in a row. Pics to follow.

                • Your right Patrick on tire sizes, I always look up the tire's spec's on a tire website ( tire rack, tire kingdom ) and even then it still might be off some but it might give you a little more info to work with. Seems like tire manufactures all have their own style tape measure's and I'm not sure if they can even read them.

These tire makers seem to have lots of discrepancies. I'm running 285 70R 17 Nitto's on my 2001 Suburban 3/4 ton. Ordered new Generals in the same size. Nitto's are 32" tall, 9.5 tread width, Generals are 33" tall, and 10.4 wide, may be clearance issues.

                    • me thinks that the tire manufacturers are going the way of the lumber mills... anybody see an actual 2X4 lately??? that's why I tend to overbuild construction projects... today's 2X6 rafter on 24 centers doesn't look too strong...

                        converting mm to inches:

285 mm divided by 25.4 = 11. + something inches- maybe like 7/32? WIDE (where the hell are all the calculators when you want one?) so you got shortchanged (or lucky not to rub) on both tires Gregg. Now how the manufacturer's measure them I cannot say.

not to derail this thread or anything, but if you put "Calculator" into google, it will take you to an online one.

                          roughly 11.220

11 7/32 (11.21875) is damn good math if you did that in your head!

                          • I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for these Generals. I won them playing "Clarence Says" on Power Tour this year! I think they will be good tires, just hope I don't have to do too much additional clearancing to accommodate them.

                            • That's why I always have the tire store size up my tires that way if it's screwed up its their screw up and it cost them to fix it.

But if you have a craptastic old laptop you can only get one window open at a time and I did not feel like shutting down..... and I am still learning where stuff isn't since I went to windows10 or whatever it's called.

P.S. - I put a tape across the tread of my P285/50R20's (summer tires now off for winter) and tread width was 11" - if you eyeballed sidewall to sidewall it might be considered 11.22"
