I welcome all of you long haulers to stop #3, my hometown of Austin, TX. I look forward to joining you for a stretch of highway in our 57 Chevy. As a fun side job I work at the Circuit of the Americas but for this event I plan to be a single day participant. There will be very little shade where they will park you so be prepared. At the end of the day I hope everyone can make it to South Congress Ave that evening to park and watch cars cruise by while you eat, drink and listen to live music. This where everyone comes in the evening during the Lonestar Roundup. I've attached a few pictures of the track and the South Congress Cruise. Have a safe trip!

Thanks for the heads up. My hotel is at 7501 E. Ben White Blvd which does not look far from S. Congress. From where to where on S,. Congress is the area you speak of ?

On South Congress, it is the area between Oltorf St. and Riverside Drive which is a span of about a mile with the most action halfway between those intersections (anywhere near Continental Club is a good area: http://continentalclub.com ). Get there early, park and have a good time. FYI - Austin silly council made all the parking spots back-in as you can see in the pictures above.

43 I was stationed at the old Bergstrom AFB in Austin in 1983-4. And back for short TDY stretches in '88 & '90. I was looking forward to taking Laura to the Iron Works so how early do you need to get to S. Congress to get a decent place?
